Mr. John F. Powell, of Wilming ton was here last week. Mr. N. T. Andrews, of McDon alds, was here Saturday Mr. H. B. Jennings went to Charlotte Sunday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Julian Pope spent Sunday at Emerson. Mr. Charles A. Hines has gone to Greensboro for a brief visit. Mr. J. R. Harris, of Raleigh, spent Thursday in Lumberton. Mr. J. A. Brown, of Chad bourn, was in Lumberton Satur day. Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Stephens visited relatives at Ashpole Sun day. f, Mr. E. M. Britt went to Barnes ville Saturday on professional business. Mr. R. B. Raney, of Raleigh, was among the visitors in town last week. Mr. L.B.Townsend has return ed from a stay of sometime at Clarkton. Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Birming ham visited relatives at Laurin burg Sunday. Mr. J. W. Wishart, of Hamlet, was in Lumberton Saturday night on business. Mr. A. J. Cottingham, of Max wn, was among tne visitors in the city last week. Mr. and Mrs. G. G. French left Sunday morning to attend the Charlotte celebration. Mr. Thad. W. Bullock visited at the home of Mr. F. T. Collins near Long Branch, Sunday. Miss Bessie McAllister, of Washington, Ga., is visiting the family of Mr.J. A. McAllister, air. u. a. Morrow is among those attending the 20th of May exercises at Charlotte this week. Small sized spring chickens found ready sale on the Lumber ton market Saturday, at 20 to 25 cents. Miss Mary Pope left Sunday morning for Emerson, where she will spend several days visiting friends. Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Peele, of Raeford, who visited Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Prevatt, will return home today. Mr. Rudolph Carlyle, who has been attending school at Oak Ridge Institute, returned home Sunday night. Air. and, Mrs. F. W. Dick, of Wilmington, spent Sunday in Lumberton, the guests of Mr. Dick's mother. Mr. Benj. Purnell, residing near Allenton, had the misfort une last week to lose his dwelling and contents by fire. Miss I rma Whitfield, who has been spending several months with her sister in Asheboro, re turned home Friday. Mr. Iredel Meares, of Wilming ton, arrived Sunday evening to attend Superior Court, which is in session this week. Messrs. Jas. D. Proctor and T. N. McDiarmid returned home Sunday from Chapel Hill, where they attended the University Law School. Mr. Nixon, of the First Nation al Bank, left Saturday morning for Raleigh, where he spent Sun day, going to Charlotte Sunday night to attend the celebration. Mr. O; A. Osborne and family, who have been residing at Bar kers, have moved to Lumberton and are now living in the home formerly occupied by Mr. J. A. Dozier. Mr. Ed.
