The convention was first called
to order at noon by Chairman W.
J. Currie, of Maxton, but was
soon adjourned to meet again at
2 o'clock. However, a magis
trate court was in session and
delayed the meeting until 3:30
o'clock, when the business of the
convention was entered into pro
perly. After stating the object of the
convention, Dr. R. M. Norment
moved that a committee be ap
pointed to retire to the committee
room and name delegates to the
different unanimously, was as
follows:
State Convention W. H. Kin-

With all the voluminous matter
printed about the recent change
in the Southern Railway schedule
to which the . Raleigh News and

facts stand out unshaken: A
railroad ought never to be allow

purpose of injuring any news

allowed to bulldoze authorities in
to forcing a change of schedule
solely for its convenience. We
confess that,owing to the brevity
of human life, we have not read
the testimony, and we do not
know which of . these principles
