To the Tobacco Growers of Robeson and Adjoining Counties: GENTLEMEN: On our opening sale of Tobacco July 23rd, we were delighted with the showing made. We had on the floor very near 25,000 pounds, this being consider able more tobacco than any other house in this section had at their openings. Our people realize that for the past several years they have had little competition in the way of markets. We will make this market one of the very best in this section, no matter what others may say. There was some dissatisfaction created entirely by some of our competitors on our opening sale. This was done not only by warehousemen from other mar kets but with the assistance of many hired men to try and destroy this market in the beginning, as they realized that we were getting too good a start, better than others, right at once. Ordinairly we would pay little or no attention to such treatment, but this being done by our competitors, as an assault in the dark, we are forc ed to tell you what we know. For several hours before our sale many warehousemen were stationed on the roads leading to and from Lumberton who made it their business to try to displease and dissatisfy every farmer who had a load of tobacco for our market. They were not satisfied with doing this dirty work before the sale but had the nerve to go on our floor during the sale and whisper in confidence to the farmers "It's selling too cheap," then after the sale for several hours these same parties were stationed at the' same points at the road crossings and tried to continue their assault. These men were Paid men, warehousemen, men who had only one aim in view, that was to destroy so they could reap the harvest Better watch such men. We attended ot her opening sales in this section and are prepared to say for we know that tobacco of the same grades brought s much and in some cases more than other markets paid for the same grades. We will always GUARANTEE YOU FULL P PRICE for your tobacco, no matter whether you come or send we will treat you right. On and after the 28th of July we will have a full corps of buyers from the American, Imperial, Export and Leggett & Myers, also many other buyers from the independent dealers, who will have as high prices as can be gotten on any market. They all buy for the same companies and hare the same prices. . . Bring us some good tobacco any day after the 28th, and let us show you what we can and will do. We will get the price for you (trash never was worth anything.) We will treat you right and satisfy you ir anybody can. , Don't be fooled by some man who is connected with some other warehouse (he gets pay to have you go some where else). Come to see us and see if we don't always work for your interest. Bring us a load of tobacco on the 28th, or any day thereafter, except Sunday. . Thanking you f for the confidence you had in me heretofore and assuring you I will always do for each and every man my very best (I have no pets), I am, Yoursfor fair treatment, honest weights and high prices, . ...
