I went to Ditchesi, and got him to brealfait with tne at Mr. GoodfcUow. He highly entertained u by puttiog ' hii naked feet upon the table at he sat, and carrying his tea and. toait between hit great and second toe to bU mouth with aa much facility at if hia foot had been a hand, and hia toca finger. I put half a ahcet of paper upon the floor, with a pen and manors. He threw off hia ahoea aa he aat, took the ink. horn in the toea of hia left foot, and held the pen in thoae of the right. lie then wrote three lines, at well at moat ordinary writer, and aa swiftly. He writes at! hit own billi and other accounts, fie then ahowed us how he ahared himself with his razor in his toea i aad he can curl hia own hair. lie can dress and undrea himself, ex cept buttoning hia clothes. He feeds himself, and can brine both hia meat and broth to hia mouth by holding the fork or spoon in his toes. He cleans hia own shoes and can clean the knives, Jight the fire and do almost any other domestic business, well as any other man. He can make hen caops. He ia a farmer by occupation. He can milk his cows with hia toes j and cut hia own hay, binds it up in bundles, and carries it about the field for his cattle, and last week he had eight heif er constantly to fodder. This last summer he made all his own hay rick. He can do all hia business of the hay field (except mowing) as fait and as well with his feet as others can do with rakes and forka. He goea to the field and catchea his horse j he saddles and bridles bitn with his teeth and toes. If he has a sheep among his flock that ails any thing, he can separate it from the rest and drive it into a corner. where no body else can j he then ex. amines it, and applies a remedy to it. He is so strong in his teeth that he can lift ten pecks of beans with them. He can throw a great tltdge hammer as far with his feet as other men can do With their hands. In a word, he can nearly do as much without, aa other can with their arms. He began the world with a hen and chickens j with the profit on them he purchased an ewe i the sale of these procured a rag ged colt (aa he termed it) and a sheep ; and he now occupica a amall farm. There ia at preaent (December 1 822,) in Belfast, an ingenious young nan named Roger Bnmaugh, who waa born without arms, and is of course devoid of hand, which may be justly classed amongst the moat useful mem bers of the human frame. Hia feet, however, serve him in their place, and enable him to perform various opera tion, for which at first view, he would appear wholly-incapacitated. -He ha been seen opening out, with his toes, a closed pcr.koife, with which be trim med a quill, aad made an excellent pen, in a very short space of time. He can write, rapicuy anu aisiiDciiy, ms amall letters being well formed, and is capital rut with taste and ease, . j:.: I It is surprising with what expedition he can thread needle, and even tie a knot St the end of the thread with 1 i uiuch facility as the moat own stockings, and twist the "threador worsted line which he uses for that purpose to the proper degree of thick ness. Speaking of the projected work, former number of the North Amer ican Review observes: "Of the man who rambled in his boyhood among tne inouna an our iron tier t who wa the first to descend the Connecticut River in a canoe, and in one which waa constructed by his own hands, and managed in its voyage by himself alone ; who studied law and divinity wno cnusieu aa a aoiaier at Uibraltar who went round the world with Cook i projected the first trading voyage to the North West Const was Intimate with Robert Morris, in Philadelphia, with Paul Jones in Paris, with Sir Jo seph Bank in London, and Professor Pallas at Petcrsburgh j , who waa tbe friend and correspondent of Jefferson and La Fayette j who was one aeason in New-York, the next in Spain and France, the next in Siberia, and the next under the pyramids of Egypt; who waa the first to open the field of African discovery, on which, during the last thirty-six years, ao many have entered with an enthusiasm and love of adventures, which nothing could damp but the sacrifice of life itself f and who, in hia own language, " tram pled half the globe under hia feet," of auch a man, no doubt many partic ular may be related, wHlcK will b interesting to his countrymen, and which, at the aame time they illustrate the character and do justice to the me mory of a remarkable individual, will -a prove what wonders may oe wrought by a union of enterprise, perseverance, and reaolution, in the same mind." Korth'Carol'tna Horses. A singu lar and we believe unprecedented in stance of the effect of passion in a brute animal, waa witnessed in this city not long since.
