NOTICE EXTRACTS FROM MINUTES OF BOARD OF ALDERMEN AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZ ING THE ISSUANCE OF $18, 000 OF BONDS OF THE TOWN OF SPENCER TO REFUND OUTSTANDING BONDS. _ BE IT ORDAINED, by the Board of Aldermen of the Town of Spencer, as follows: Section 1. That Board of Aider men of the Town of Spencer has ascertained and determined, and does hereby declare, that the fol lowing bonds of said Town have heretofore been issued by said Town and are now outstanding, viz.: $18,000 School Bonds, dated June 1, 1926, payable, three $1, 000 bonds on June 1st in each of the years 1933 to 1938, inclusive, and bearing interest at the rate of five and one-quarter per centum ($ 1-4%) per annum, payable semi-annually, and that said bonds were issued on or about their re spective dates, and that said Town received in payment therefor not less than the face amount %f said bonds, and that all sums received in payment for said bonds have been applied to the payment of the cost of constructing, reconstruct ing, altering or enlarging school buildings, or acquiring for improv ing lands for school purposes, and that no part of the principal of any of said bonds has been paid, and that alj of said bonds are valid and binding obligations of said Town. Section 2. For the purpose of refunding the debt evidenced by said bonds, there shall be issued, 1 pursuant to The Municipal Finance ! Act, 1921, of North Carolina, as * amended, bonds of the Town 'of J Spencer of an aggragate principal ‘ amount which shall not exceed " Eighteen Thousand Dollars ($18,- a 000). 1 Section j. In any case where the debt evidenced by any of said out standing bonds is not payable at the time of the passage k>f this or dinance, or will not be payable within one year thereafter, no bonds shall be issued pursuant to this ordinance to refund said debt unless said debt is cancelled sim ultaneously with the issuance of the bonds issued pursuant to this ordinance to refund said debt. Section 4. A statement of the debt of the Town of Spencer has been filed with the Town Clerk as required by law, and is open to public inspection. Section 5. This ordinance shall take effect upon its passage, and shall not be submitted tb the voters of the Town of Spencer.” The foregoing ordinance was passed on the 10th day June, 1936, and was first published on the 19th day of June, 1936. BE IT ORDAINED, by the Board of Aldermen of the Town of Spencer, as follows: Section 1. The Board of Aider men of the Town of Spencer has ascertained and determined, and does hereby declare that the fol lowing bonds of said Town have heretofore been issued by said Town and are now outstanding, viz.: (1) $32,000 Street Improve ment Bonds, dated July 1, 1923, payable, eight $1,000 bonds Ion July 1st in each of the years 1934 to 1937, inclusive, and bearing in terest at the rate <of six per centum (6%) per annum, payable semi annually; and (2) $7,000 Street Improvement Bonds, dated February 1, 1925 payable, two $1,000 bonds on Feb ruary 1st in each of the years 1934 to 193 6, inclusive, and one $1,000 bond on February 1, 1937, anc bearing interest at the rate of sis per centum (6%) per annum payable semi-annually; and that said bonds were issued on or about their respective dates and that saic ■Town received in payment there for not less than the face amount of said bonds, and that all sums re ceived in payment for said bond: have been applied to the payment of the cost <of improving streets in said Town, and that no part of the principal of any of said bonds ha: been paid, and that all of said bbnd: are valid and binding Obligations of said Town. Section 2. For the purpose of Golden Gate Bridge Towers Support Longest Span Two 748 Feet High Tower# of Largest Suspension Bridge In World Are 4200 Feet Apart. WORK on the main span of the! Golden Gate Bridge, the larg est suspension bridge In the world, will soon be started by the Beth lehem Steel Company which re cently completed erection of the two great towei’3 for the bridge. The towers are 4200 feet apart as com pared with the 3500 feet distance between rowers of the George Washington Bridge across the Hud son River between New York City end New Jersey. These towers are each 746 feet In height, and for their c;r::ruc f'on 41,000 tons of steel was re quired. When the entire job is com pleted in the spring of 1937, the towers and main span will have called for 70,000 tons of steel, with the grand total including cable work and approaches exceeding 100,000 tons. The height of the towers is about the same as that of a sixty-flve story building, and a large ocean going steamboat will have more than 200 feet clearance when pass-1 ing under the great span. The bridge will have a six-lane automobile deck and two pedes trian walks. Section 2. For the purpose of refunding the debt evidenced by said bonds, there shall be issued, .pursuant to The Municipal Finance | Act, 1921, of North Carolina, as .amended, bbnds of the Town of Spencer of an aggregate principal amount which shaljl not exceed Thirty Thousand Dollars ($30, 000).
