Their Appearance Yesterday -r-PIoral Decorations Music by the Cornet Concert Club Collation. . j The white companies of the city fire de partment held their annual parade yes terday afternoon and marched in the fol lowing order, the starting point beinclhe Hook & Iadder 1111, on Dock street. near fourth street, at a little after 5 o'clock, where the parade line was I or ru ed: A platoon of police under Sergeant Robert Green followed by Assistant Marshal Herbert Latimer. oftbeWil- minglon Ste,m Fire Engine Company, No. I., who conducted the parade. The Cornet Concert Club with lull ranks came next and lurnished the mu3ic lor the occasiou. Then came Capt. C. 1). Mycr. Chicl. and Mr. J. G. Oldeubullrl. I Assistant, followcl bv the Howard Relief Steam Fire Engine Company, No. 1. wilh their engine, the -1. Adrian, and hose reel, both elegantly and lavishly decorated wilh flowers aud evergreens. The engiue was drawn by four horses and the reel by one. Next came the Wilmington Hook & Ladder Company, No. I, wilh their truck, which was drawn by (our horses and wa profusely decorated with flowersx Then camo the Wilmingtou Sleam Fire Engine Campany, No. 1, with their en gine, the Lilllc (Jitnl, drawn by four horses and also elegantly decorated with flowers and evcrgreeni. The members of the Howard Reliel Company wore tna new uniforms, which we have recently 'described in the Review. The Hook and Ladder Company wore red shirts, red helmets and black trousers, ana the w &. x.t Co., wore gray suits trimmed with red aud black helmets; and all presented a fine and imposing appearance. The line of march was up Fourth, to Princess, dowa Princess to inird, up Third to Chestuut. where the procession was joined by a carriage containing His Honor, Mayor Hall, Aldermen G. J. Boncy and b. H. Jnsnblate, i,nairT men of the Committees on ire uepari- ment and Public Buildings, and Alder man Bear, of the Committee on Fire Department, inence me procession moved down Chestnut to iront, down . . Front to Nun. up Nun to Tnird, up Third to Dock up Deck to Fourth aa(j up Fourth to the Little Giant Engino House, in the Hall of which a bountiful collation under the direction of the three companies had . frt, t. j k t. . prepared for the tired and by this time, hungry liremen. lne nan was beautifully decorated for the occasion. and after the demands of the inner man bd bee sailed to.su and .roccbe, became in order. Interesting remarks were made by Capt. C. D. Myers, and Aldermen Fishblate. Boney and Bear. Tha weather was all that could be desired: there was no dust, and the parade was one ot the prettiest and most imposing we have seen. There was nothing to mar the pleasure and elegance of the parade, and our firemen are to be congratulated upon their ap pearance yesterday as reflecting honor upon our city, their organization as firem en and upon themselves as fellow citizens. la closing this report, wo would be aojast to ourself, to the city and to the Cornet Concert Club did we fail to com mend the cxcel'ent music furnished for the occasion by tho Club.. There were quite a number in the Club who have nad but a bnet time lor practice, ana wo had no reason to expect such fine music as they discoursed yesterday. They did well, and their efforts showed that they had been faithful and earnest pupils under most thorough and effi cient teaching. We neglected to stale in the appropii ate place that belore l ha parade the members of the Howard Relief and Wilmington Steam Fire Engine Com panies accepted of an invitation and proceeded to the Hill t the Hook & Ladder C iinpany where they paruxk of a bountilul collation that haJ been prepared for them by the members of the last named company.
