The j reports of correspondents of the Weekly Crop Bulletin, publish ed by the North Carolina Experi ment Station anJ State Weather Service, show there has been a mark. ed deficiency in rainfall, an average temperature and amount of sun stiine during the week ending Sep tember 6th 1889. Fully ninety five per cent, of the correspondents- re port thai the weather has been very favorable to crops and farming operations of all kinds. The 'de ficiency of rainfall has especially benefited cotton, except in some counties of the Western District, where the dry weather has contin ued longer and rain is much need ed. The only rains reported during the week occurred in the: western part of the State where they were certainly required. The f cotton worm has appeared in some places but not generally. Cool nights with heavy dews have been very bene ficial to the "tobacco crop while bright days have been favorable for cutting and curing. In some places curings are reported very fine. Other crops are ge nerally do ing well. The saving of fodder has been greatly facilitated. Farmers have had a very busy week and are very sanguine.
