A. G. Hankins, of this city, who was
in Gen. Barringer's cavalry regi

the two gentlemen had a long talk
about the old and troublous times.
It was the first time they had met in

last time he saw the General was on a

An Otter and a llrlckbat.
There nre some few otters iu this
vicinity but they aro rarely seen.
Mr. Luke McClammy, of Scott's
1111. who came into the city this
morning, found one, however, ant
took him iu. He was in his buggy
journeying in this direction and
when about U miles from the city he
saw a black object in the road which
he nt once concluded must be au
otter. The animal stopped in a
clump of bushes near ;t he road and
Mr. McClammy descended from his
buggy and finding a brickbat in the
road he ''chunked" it at the ott3r.
Ue hit the animal- fair andsquare in
the forehead and knocked t over
and Mr. McClammy, completed the
work with a stick. . There waa
pond of water about 100 yards from
the road aiufit is probable that the
otter was making for It at .'the time.'
Mr. McClammy brought the body to
the city and exhibited Jt here. He
will have the skin maTde Into a muff
If or his wife as a memento of the fAct
that be Isprobably the only man
living wherhas ever knocked over an
