The first discovery of the presence of the villain was made by little Katie, n daugh ter of Mr. Edwards, about six years', old, who was awake and saw the man when he put his head in at the window and took a survey of the room. This is the oldest school in the city, and its career of uninterrupted success, throuh a period of thirty-three years, gives to it a tone ot character that cannot but insure for it a future of flattering prosperity. Important to Business Men Reduction of Telegraphic Tolls by tiie Western Union Telegraph Com pany. Our business men and others will be glad to learn that this Company has decided to make a general and material reduction in their tariff of rates. To per sons who arc constantly making use of the telegraph as a medium of communica tion, this will be no small item of saving when they come to balance their accounts at the cud of the year. This act shows a commendable spirit on the part of the company, the more so when it is consider ed that the reduction is voluntary, made without reference to the operation of com peting lines there being several com peting lines in the Northern and Western States. The new rate goes into effect on 1st of October. The new system is work ed ont on the principle of "air line" dis tance from point to point. Heretofore the rate was computed by the zigzag route a dispatch was sent. Below we give a table of rates to some of the principal towns and cities from Wilmington, furnished at our request by Mr. J.
