By Talatiaph to tbeMorntag filar. Aobobta. October IA The second bloody cbspter ia the terrible history wbicb began with the shooting of T. C. McGregor in his own yard, Friday night, December 23. 1887, waa enacted upon the streets of Warren too, Oa., fifty miles from here, to day, in the killing of J. M. W. Oody by 0. . McGregor. There were many wttaeaeea to the killing. Oody had Just ridden in from the oountry in a buggy with Jamee M English, and alighted at tee crooning in front of C. W. Pitcher Go 's store. Prom there he walked only a few steps to where Messrs. T. N Pool and D. W. Rogers were sitting oo a table la front of Bogliab's store. Mc Gregor wm standing in front of Captain Thompson's store on the oppeite side of the street when Cody drove by. He welched Cody get out of the buggy, and in a minute or two after Cody alighted; Mo Gregoc walked rapidly acrooe the street with hi hand in his pocket, and marched f quare up to Cody. Drawing hi pistol be presented it to Cody's breast aad fired, the ball penetrating the right breast.' Cody dropped bis bead and shoulders, and Mo Gregor fired again, the ball atriking him through the head, and Cody fell immedi ately. As he fell McGregor fired again, the raxll striking him below the left ear. Cody waa indicted by the grand jury at the April Superior Court for steault with intent to murder McGregor, and tbe case waa Mt for trial at the October court, which wm held In Warrenton this week. Cody wm placed under bond of $2,500 to bo prtaent al this court, but when the court convened to-day Cody wm not present, and though a bench warrant wm Issued for bis srrtst be could not be found. To-day, sfter court adjourned, he rode in town. Major McGregor was seen after the kill ing by an Associated Press reporter, and Mid: "When Cody deliberately evaded the law and planted his impudent defiance in my face, it was more than human nature could stand. If the courts would not pun ish this man for frying to sasarainate me, I determined to do it myself. 1 tried to put my bullet Jut where be put bis in me on December 281, 1887. and I don't think I missed it oue Inch. As be fell I tried to put my second bullet m bis fore bead, and I think I got it there, and then as be wm on the ground, I tried to put the third in tbe burr of bis ear, and I don't think I missed it far." McGregor was perfectly cool, and justi fied his deed by tba fact that Cody had once shot him, and had threatened since to kill bim, and he believed bis life in danger. McGregor is a railroad agent at Warrenton, and bu represented bis county in tbe Lego Islalure. Cody was a prominent citizen of the place, worth $40,000, and is widely connected throughout the county. Intense feeling prevails, and citiaens fear there will be further trouble. McGregor Is in custody. A mystery surrounds tbe original cause of tbe trouble, but it is generally asaerted that there wm a woman in the case. BOlLKit EXfLOSlOS Obi His KIlUd-L 10.000. By Taisaiaob to tb btoraiaa Star. For a year I have been suffering with a form f Kidney Disease which my physician. Dr. J. A. Eillman, thought was Diabetes, and advised tbe use of Otterburn Lithiaand Magnesia Water. The quantity of urine passed was greatly in ex cess of the natural secretion, and I lost forty Dounds of flesh in a few months. The use of the Otterburn ater corrected this excessive flow entirely in six weeks, and I am again a well man. I tried many medicines without avail, and I attribute my cure of this troublesome and dangerous disease entirely to the use of the Otterburn Water. B. N. B LAN TON. PBRSON8 OFTEN ASK "WILL IT KKSP t" Amelia County, Va ..Feb . 24, 1888. I hereby certlly that two years ago I obtained some of the Water of the Otterburn Lithia and Magnesia Spring lor my wife In a demijohn, and recently, whilst moving to another home, I found that some of tbe Water had been left In the demijohn. I poured it oat and drank some of it, and found It to be as pare and nice as when first taken from the Spring. Q. E. CRADDOCB. IT CURBS RHEUMATIC GOUT. B. Jkpttsbson, of Johnston, South Carolina, writes as f odows of it : A lady here has been entirely relieved of a severe attack of F.heumatic Gout. she found suoh immediate relief she did not take any modiclne or any other remedy at all, and while on the sixth bottle stated that she had been entirely relieved and needed no more Water; her general health also being greatly im proved. B. B. JBFFBRSON. Mashbobo, Va., March 17 1888. Whea l commenced tne nse of the Otterburn Lithia and Magnesia Water, on the 28th of January last, I bad no faith in any mineral water. I had been suffering for over three years with a disease that was pronounced by a proml nenl physician of Richmond to be an affection of the Kidneys, after making a scientific test. I had only used the Water one week when I was entirely relieved of pain, whloh before hed been constant and at times acute, and I have gained nineteen pounds in flesh, with a restora tion of strength and energy. I gave the Water a.falr test, using no other water and taking no medicine. H. C. GREGORY. Richmond, Va., April 8, 1887. I have been suffering for years with a compli cation of Liver and Kidney trouble, suffering great pain In the region of the kidneys; and hav ing my attention called to the Otterburn Lithia and Magnesia Water. I commenced to nse it, and never experienced suoh roller from any thing The very first half -gallon Increased the flow of urine and cleared It ap. My appetite has been restored, ann I leel that I cannot commend the Water too highly. R. F. WALKER. AxxniA C. H., Va., December 16, 1886. I have been a Dyspeptlo for tbe past fifteen years; and lately have suffered with Derange ment of my Urinary organs, evidenced by great difficulty In voiding the urine. About six months ago I oommenoed the use of tbe Otterburn Lithia and Magnesia Springs Water, and since that time there bas been marked and gradual Improvement In my entire condition and state of health.
