Messrs Wyaft und Ketcham : Gentlemen Un demanding that you are the General Agents for the aale of Dr. Uphatn's Vegetable Electuary, for the cure of the Piles, I have deemed it my duty to vol unteer a recommendation in be'half ot that invaluable medicine. 1 have been afflicted for many years with the Piles, and have tried various remedies, but with no beneficial effects. Indeed, I legan to consider my cae hoteless. But, about the first of September last. I was prevailed upon by a friend to make a tri al of the above named medicine ; I took his advice, and rejoice tossy that I am not only relieved, but as I believe, perfectly cured. I most earnestly recom mend it to all who may have the misfortune to be af flicted with that annoying and dangerous disease. Very respectfully, Your ob't servant, ELY MOORE. REMARKABLE CURE OF PILES Tbihtt Moost Wasbixotom, Berkshire Co., Mass. Nov. 29th, 1847. ? Mas as. Wiatt & Kktcham : Genu For 30 year 1 have been afflicted with Piles, general Debil ity, and Inflammation, causing tumors and prplaiwus of the bowels, and which had resisted all the medical treatment Dr. Chapman and others could give. The last three years of that time my sufferings defy de scription. I was confined to bed unable to help my self, and at I act given up by my physicists and friends in despair ot ever g lining my health ; in fact, for a time before I commenced using Dr. Upharn's Elec tuary,! was entirely speechless, and my burial clothes were made.. But under the beneficent mercies of Providence, and the use of Dr. Upharn's Electuary, though an old has, I have the pleasure of staling the fact to the puMic that my health is now good, and I hope to live many years, if it is God's will, to make known the virtues of Dr. Uj. ham's Electuary, and to recommend it to my afflicted fellow creatures. It helped me beyond the expectations of al! who knew my case, and I can only sy to others, that it is in my opinion, the best medicine in the world lor Piles, or any other disease of the bowels ; and if they will use it according to the directions, I will myself wsrrsnt a cure, in every case. I T HAS long been desired that a Press should be established in the thriving Town of Smithfield; and t he undersigned, believing that such au undertak ing would be encouraged and sustained by the intel ligent and public spirited citizens of Johnson aud Ihe surrounding Counties, have determined to make the experiment, by the establishment of a Newspaper with the above title, and upon the plan proposed. The Telegraph will be Whig in Politics; and al though we shall not be permitted to render much service in the promotion of that glorious old Hero ZACHARY TAYLOR for the Presidencyliis election, as We believe, will have taken place before we shall b well under way yet we shall give his administration, in that event, a Warm and cordial support, believing that the perpetuity of our Institu tions and the well being of our Country can best be secured by an adherence to the principles which lie has laid down for his government. But should so great a curse be inflicted upou our Country as the success of either of the Loco Foco Abolition Candi date, Lewis Cass' or Martin Van Buren we will be found battling with all our might against the dan gerous policy and doctrines which they advocate, and doing all in our power to arre6t our c- umry fro n t: downward tendency to which all their principles lead. The South, Southern Institutions and oulh ern interests will be vigilantly guarded from Loco Fco Barnburners, old Iluukers and. Abolitionist J and we shall do all in our power to demonstrate what we believe to be God's truth, that with the Whig party rests all the hopes and prospects of this Union for happiness and prosperity. But while the Telegraph will be a. Political paper, it is our purpose to make it a vehicle to convey intel ligence and information to. its readers upon all sub ject. Agriculture, the Markets, Domestic and For eign news, 6hal each receive due space in our col-, omns, while Miscellaneous and interesting "Sight-reading-" shall receive proper attention. The next Session of the Legislature will be one of great interest to ibe People of the State; and we have provided ourselves with facilities to keep our readers well advised of its Proeeedinga. And in Con gress, also, matters of the most vital importance will come up for action at its next sitting. Among oth ers, the deicate and momentous question of slavery in the newly acquired territories of New Mexico and California will have to be settled, in the result of which the People Of the South moat feel a deep and abiding interest We shall keep our reader fully Dosted un with its doing A as well also with all s . matters ot newa and interests that ma; be transpir ing in our. own and Foreign lauds.
