Mr. and Mrs. John A. Brown, Mr. and Mrs. C. O. McNlel, Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Absher, and Miss Betty Tuttle, all of this city, vis ited Mrs. J. G. 'Tuttle near Stone- ville the past week-end. Word has been received here of the death of Mr. W. H. Teer, of Durham, who died there la,st Thursday and was burled Satur day. Mr. Teer was a former resi dent of North Wilkesboro. Among those attending the Newberry - Appalachian football game in Boone Saturday were Lawrence Miller and son, Ha- wood, C. B. Eller, W. D. Half acre and Misses Arlee Gilliam and Bea Godfrey. Miss Gertrude Gilliam, of Bur lington, was a guest over the week-end of Mr. and Mrs. Carl E. VanDeman. Miss Gilliam, a former _rnember of the North Wil kesboro school faculty, is now I teaching at Tarboro. Mr. W. M. Minton, of Mt. Zion, was a business visitor here' today. He reported that WPA forces are doing a splen did job of repairing the road on the south fork of Stony Fork Mrs. C. B. Lomax and small son Phil, are leaving tomorrow for’ a week’s visit with Mrs. Lomax’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. J M. PhiHips. at InRalls. Mrs. Lomax plans to attend an East ern Star district meeting at Elk Park, Saturday. Dr. W. J. Flint, pastor of the Wilkesboro Methodist church. Rev. A. L. Aycockr pastor of the North Wilkesboro Methodist church, and Rc'.. J. M. Green, pastor of the Wilkes circuit, are attending the annual Methodist conference in High Point this John W. Nichols, of Mil lers Creek, left today to have an operation performed on his leg at a Charlotte Hospital. The ope ration will be performed by Dr. O U Miller. Mr. Nichols lost his toot and part of his leg when he was struck by a box car here on June 6, 1931. Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Duncan returned Sunday from Smith- field where they attended the wedding of Mr. William Bowen and Miss Emily Wellons. Mr. Duncan was an attendant at the wedding. He and Mr. Bowen were classmates at State Col lege. Rev. A. L. Aycock, pastor of the North Wilkesboro Methodist church, is attending the annual conference which is being held ai High Point this week. Mrs. Aycock and Miss Helen Ayccek i "re spending the time in Wins-j ton-Salem with the Aycock’.; , daughter, Mrs. W. A. Biles. Rev. I Mr. Aycock will return to the | city the last of the week and will preach Sunday as usual at the ■ church. ' Dr. and Mrs. W. A. Taylor had a.S' their guests Sunday their chil dren and families, Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Irvin and children, of Greensboro: Mr. and Mrs. P. A. Tyndall, and children, of Mt. Airy; Mr. and Mrs. Russell Cook, of High Point; and Mr. and Mrs. E. R. Collins, of Lincoln, Nebras ka, Mrs. Collins is a sister of Mrs. Taylor. The gathering Sun day was the celebration of three birthdays. Dr. ’Taylor, Mr. Irvin, and Mr. Cook. The dinner for the day was furnished by Mrs. Tay lor, Mrs. Irvin, Mrs. Tyndall, and ter detective of the French Sur- ete.
