The white birthday cake was topped with four tiny green candies, and fa vors tor the little girls were Christmas stockings flUed with mints. Wilson-Watts Vows Are Announced Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wilson, of Moravian Falls, announce the marriage of their daughter, Doro thy Virginia, to Albert Watts, son of Rev. and Mrs. S. I. Watts, of Boomer, on December :0, 1943. The vows were spoken In the home of Rev. J. A. Crews, of Ru- monthly meeting Tuesday evening at the home ot Mrs. J. P. Bing ham, Jr, The topic for program, *‘S4Higs of the Witneesps" was giv en vnder the direction ot Mrs. Alice Stafford, program chairman. Miss Katherin Sanford gave the deyotionsls, Mrs. Mabel Lottes the Christmas msesage. Miss Marie Halgwood a musical meditation, accompanied at the piano by Miss Elsie Nichols, a duet “The Star of the East” was sung by Misses Vivian Kerbau^ and Wanda Ker- leyt Miss Mania Brewer, circle chair man, was in charge of the busi ness session, and interesting re ports were given by Mrs. B. T. Hackney, Mrs. S. B. Moore, and Miss Lunda Hendren of the work done. Twenty were present and were served refreshments during the social honr. I ^^1 Hall, with Rev. Mr. Crews of ficiating, using the Impressive ring ceremony. For her nuptials the bride wore a light blue crepe dress with which she used black accessories. Her shoulder corsage was of reid roses. Idlewise Club Met Saturday Evening The members of the Idlewise club and a few extra guests were entertained by Mrs. R. T. McNtel at her home on Sixth street Satur day evening. Four tables were made up for bridge and at the close of play the hostess served a salad course. Mrs. Boyd Stout won the prize for the highest score with the traveler’s award going to Mj’s. Chal McNlel. The home was beautifully decorated in keeping with the Christmas sea son. Fourteen members were preednt The. president, Carolyn Deans, presided for the hasiness meeting after which the follow^g ptplls took part on the program; Sara Lou Chlpman,' Phillip Lomax, Mary Miller Starr, PhlUlp Lomax, Mildred Minton, Ruth Combs, Jimmy Blair, Billie Jackson, Celia Carter, Ruth Pearson and Peggy Harris. The program consisted ot singing Christmas Carols, piano solos, vocal solos and two piano numbers. Jo Ann Porter and Pete Reins were welcomed Into the club as new members. The Senior Division met on Monday night at the music studio with sixteen members present. Margie Newton and Patsy Pope were hostesses for this meeting. Marie Eller, president, presided for the meeting and after busi ness session, Mary Lee Gardner, program chairman, had charge. Doris Ruth Kerbatigh, Betty Lou Ken^ly, Patsy Pope, Margie Newton played piano solos. Jane Carter rendered two flute solos of Christmas carols, with Agnes Kenerly accompanying her at the piano. Then the group sang "Silent Night” and "O, Little Town of Bethlehem” with Carolyn Moore and Dorothy Gabriel tell ing the stories of these two. carols. Carolyn Moore and Dorothy Gabriel sang two vocal solos with Patsy Waller and Patsy Pope at the piano. To close the program, Patsy Waller and Mrs. Kilby play ed two piano numbers. Haynes Mr. and Mrs. Eugene WyatF, hf this city, announce the marriage of the daughter, Helen Virginia, to Cpl. John D. Haynes on Decem ber 14, 1943. The vows were spoken in York, S. C., after which the couple left for a short wed ding trip. The bride wore a light blue suit with ahlack accessories, and a cor sage of red rosebuds. Mrs. Haynes is a graduate of North Wilkesboro high school and of Mitchell Col lege at Statesville. Cpl. Haynes is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Haynes, of Hays, and Mrs. Haynes will make her home in Durham after ^December 21st, while Cpl. Haynes Is station ed at Camp Butner. Handiwork Club Has Christmas Party The members of the Handiwork club and a few visitors enjoyed a delightful Christmas party at the home of Mrs. Archie McNeil on Kensington Drive Friday evening. Following the dinner the group spent an informal hour together during which time Sarah Lou Chipman recited a Christmas poem “A Cradle Hymn”, Mrs. Willie Felts directed some interesting contests, and Joanna McNeil told a lovely Christmas story. At the close of the evening an exchange of gifts was made and some Christmas carols were sung. A. Christmas basket was fixed a.';d is to be given to a needy family. The home was attractively decorated in keeping with the season. Mrs. R. T. McNiel Gives Small Party Mrs. R. T. McNlel was hostess at a small bridge party at her home on Sixth street Thursday evening. Bridge was played 'at three tables with the top score prize going to Miss Manle Brewer. Miss Beth Bumgarner, a bride- elect, was remembered with a gift. Miss Bumgarner, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. S. Bumgarner, of Millers Creek, is to wed Cadet Robert Sidnam, -of Raleigh. A des sert course preceded play. John Watson Morris, Jr., Has Birthday John Watson .Morris, Jr., cele brated his fifth birthday anniver sary on Thursday, December 9, at Mrs. J. L. Clements’ kindergarten class, guests being members of the class. A number of games were played and John Watson received lots of nice gifts from the child ren. Individual cakes and Ice cream were served by Mrs. Morris, who presented the children with favors. North Wilkesboro Woman’s Club Will Not Have Meeting The December meeting of the North Wilkesboro Woman’s club will not be held this month, but the January meeting will be held at the usual time.
