Roope, of Moravian Falls, an expert steam flttej, is now engaged In overhauling the dry kilns at the Oak Furniture company’s plant. Mrs. C. G. Day Is convalascing at her home on “D” street from a recent attack of pneumonia. Mrs. Day was a patient of The Wilkes Hospital for over a" week. Messrs. C. H. Wellborn and W. H. Elledgo, well known .residents of Newcastle township, were visi tors to North Wilkesboro Tues day. r Mrs. J. W. White returned yes terday from Lexington, Ky., where she has been visiting her son, Mr. John W. White, and family for two months. Messrs. Gene Bumgarner and Bud Nichols have returned from Keesley Field, Miss., where they visited Pvt. Howard Bumgarner, who Is stationed there. Rev. L. E. Sparks, a minister of the Moiley community, was one of many pleasant callers at The Journal-Patriot office Wed nesday. F. D. Forester, III, young son of Mr. and Mrs. F. D. Forester, Jr., underwent a tonsilar opera tion at the Wilkes Hospital Tues day. Mr. Bruce; Hall, of the V. S. Navy, has returned to New York after spending a short leave with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. V. Hall, of Halls Mills. Misses Norma Smoak, Nelle and Frances Rousseau, and Elizabeth ^ McNeill are home from. Greens-1 boro College to spend Christmas with their respective parents. Mr. Elliott, who has'been operating the Broadway Tourist Home and service station for sometime, will Mrs. M. C. German has returted to Kannapolis after a week's vlslf with Mr. anik Mrs.- J. M. German at Boomer. Mrs. German Is the vAdow of Mr. Carlton German who who accidentally killed on a Vir ginia farm several weeks ago. Mre. J. H. Johnson and Mrs. Paul Hutchens returned to ;lic city today after a few days’ visit In Raleigh with their sister, Mrs. L. C. Beddingfield. They were; accompanied home , trom Chapel Hill by Miss Billie Waugh John son, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Johnson, who is a student of the School of Pharmacy of the Uni versity of North Carolina. Mrs. J. E. Duncan, who had bene a patient at the Davis Hospi tal In Statesville for several weeks, returned to her home here Sunday. Her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Owen Duncan, accompanied her home and Is here with Mrs. Duncan, who has been suffering from a severe attack arthritis. Among the out-of-town people attending the wedding ' of Miss Roena Bullls to Ensign Pete Kulynych in Wilkesboro Saturday evening included Mrs. Sam Pierce, of Charlotte: Miss Faynetta Ellis, of Charlotte; Mr and Mrs. Harvey R. Roseman and daughter, of Ral eigh; Misses Charlotte Harvel and Ina Myers, of Charlotte. The following students from Wilkes county will return-home this week from Mars Hill college to spend the Christmas holidays: Beth Winfrey Jones, Mary E. Nichols, Cecil Leroy Porter, North Wilkesboro; Mildred Kllhy. Clara Lee Watts. Purlear; Rufus Laneau Miller, Nichols; Margaret Turner, Wilkesboro. Chrlstma.s holidays will begin at the college at one o’clock Thursday, Decem ber 16, and will close at one o’clock Tuesday, January 4.
