There will be an Apple Festival and an auction pie sale at the Pores Knob community house, Saturday, Oct. 18, beginning at 7:30 p. m., for the benefit of the Community House. The program consists of piano music by Mrs. V. E. Jennings; greetings by the Pores Knob Home Demonstration elub president, Mrs. W. C. Anderson. The master of ceremonies will be J. B. Parlelr, V. E. Jennings, president of the Fruit Growers Association, will deliver a short talk on apples. Joel Bentley will be the auctioneer. A nice exhibit of apples and apple products will be on display, famished by the apple growers and ladies of the community. Everybody is asked to have a part in this exhibit. All ladies are asked to bring a pie for the pie sale also. Another event that promises much interest will be the crowning of the Apple Queen. Jennings, Sr., Miss Linda ^dsel by Mr. and Mrs. Edmon Edsel, Miss Sarah Meadows (by Mr. R. C. Meadows, Mrs. Zelma Smith and Mrs. Grace Frailer by Mr. and Mrs. B. M. Broyhill, Miss Judy Joines by Mr. and Mrs. Dick Joines, Miss Alda Broyhill by Mr. and Mts. H. M. Broyhill, Miss Peggy Jo Jolne8 by Mr. and Mrs. George" Joines. Many others are expected to be sponsored by Saturday night for the contest. Other things on the program will consist of music; an apple quiz with the questions being sent In by apple growers; two short contests on apples with prises; Apple Essays, written by the children of the community, and remarks by some of the apple producers. There will be a photographer present to make a group picture of all the girls being sponsored for Apple Queen and an Individual picture of the winner. A beautiful strand of hand dipped pearls will be given the queen also as a souvenir. "Come, and help crown the girl you wish to be Apple Queen by your votes which are lc each.
