Porter, of Wilkesboro route one, has returned home after spending six weeks with her daughter, Mrs. Sarah Walker, and family, of Hays. Mr. Paul S. Cragan returned Monday to Sanford, "where he holds the position as superintendent of Lee County hospital, after spending the week-end with his family here. Messrs. Bernard Caldwell and Robert Davis, of this city, are planning to open a self-service laundry on A street in the near future. Announcement of the opening is expected soon. Dr. T. L. White, Dr. A. C. Woodward, sup Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Brzostowski, who have been living in Tucson, Arizona, have returned to North Wilkesboro and are now at the home of Mrs. Brzostowski's parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. Ivey Moore. Among those from the First Methodist church attending the Touth R&lly at the Western North Carolina Conference in Charlotte Saturday evening were Misses Jo Lassiter, Dot Shell, Margaret Anderson, Agnes and Betty Lou Kenerly. Mrs. Lizzie McQueen, of Little Rock, S. C., and- daughter, Mrs. Robert Moore, and three children, Anne, Robert and Marilyn, of Winston-Salem, spent the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Vickery. Mrs. McQueen is an aunt of Mrs. Vickery. There will be a prayer service at Davis Memorial church Saturday night, 7:30 o'clock. Rev. John Higglns will conduct the service. Announcement of the service stated that important business would be taken up and all members of the church are urged to attend. Mr. and Mrs. Ben McGlamery and son, Herbert, of Asheville, were recent guests in the home of Mr. Charlie Finley and Miss Mary Finley, in this city. Mr. Ben McGlamery is a native of Wilkes and has been away from this county § 2. years. He is a son of the late Alec McGlamery. Dr.'and Mrs. Gilbert R. Combs returned home Monday evening from Charlotte, where they had been since last Wednesday attending the Western North Carolina Conference at the Dilworth Methodist church. Mr. and Mrs. E. F. Edmisten, of Boomer, celebrated their 25 th wedding anniversary Sunday. Members of their family and friends gathered at their home and enjoyed a bountiful dinner.
