Gaither Wed At North Wilkesboro Miss Madge Kilby, of West /efferson an<j North Wilkesboro, and Mr. John Walter Gaither, of North Wilkesboro, were united In marriage {Sunday afternoon, Jan uary 16, 1949, at 4:00 o'clock at the First i Baptist Church In North Wilkesboro. The bride's uncle, Eld. C. B. Kilby, of Spar ta, officiated using a double ring ceremony. Miss Atarle Eller, organist, presented a program of nuptial music. As the guests arrived she played MaoDowell's "To a Wild Rose." Prjor tQ the ceremony she* played: "Because" by D'Hard lot and "I* Love Thee" by Grieg. During the ceremony, "O, Perfect Love" by Barndy was played. The wedding march from 'Lo hengrin" by Wagner was used as the processional, ana Mendels sohn's march from "A Midsum mer Night's Dream" was played for the recessional. Mr. Tommy Bobbitt, of Greens boro, nephew of the groom, and Mr. Lloyd Turner, Jr., of North Wilkesboro, served as ushers. The bride and groom entered the church together, unattended. The bride's dress was of light aqua-blue crepe styled with wide rows of matching lace in bodice and full skirt. Her headdress was fashioned of matching net braid and her gloves were elbow length white silk. Her corsage was of white rosebuds. Both the bride's mother and the groom's mother wore black crepe dresses with shoulder cor sages of red rosebuds. The bride, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. E. Kilby, of West Jefferson, attended Marion Col lege, Marion, Virginia. The groom, son of Mrs. W. E. Gai ther and the late Mr. Gaither, of North Wilkesboro, attended the University of Tampa, Tampa, Florida. Both held positions at Carolina Mirror Corporation ip North Wilkesboro prior to their marriage. ( Immediately after the cere! mony a reception was given for the wedding party and families of the bride and groom by the groom's sister, Mrs. L. EX Harris, at the Harris home, after which the couple left for Tampa, Flor ida, where the groom will resume his studies at the University of Tampa. —■ o — A few acres of Turkish tobacco will be grown in Jackson, Swain, and Graham Counties in 1949.
