Church, Sun day.—Reported. Friends are glad to learn that Mrs. Archie Yates, of Wilkesboro, is recovering. She underwent an operation Saturday at the Wilkes hospital. Mrs. C. C. Faw, Jr., of this city, who was ill with pneumon ia, was a patient for a few days the first of the week at the Wil kes Hospital. Mrs.Arnold Davis, the former Miss *Joyce Kilby, was painfully burned on her face and arms last night when some kerosene being used to kindle a fire exploded. Mrs.Lura Boggs/>f Grensboro, arrived Wednesday for an ex tended visit visit with Mr. and Mrs. Howard Strader. Mrs. Boggs is the mother of Mrs. Strader. Mr. Bascomb Gambill, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Brown, Sr., and Er nest Brown, Jr., motored to Le noir and Blowing Rock Sunday afternoon. Mr. Tom Eshelman, student of Princeton University, Princeton, N. J., is spending the spring hol idays this week with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. P. W. Eshelman. Mrs. J. C. Grayson has been a patient at Davis hospital in Statesville since Sunday. Friends are glad to know she Is improv ing. Mrs. Paul M. Johnson and children, Van and Linda, left Tuesday to return to their home in Detroit, Mich., aftes spending several days with friends, and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Hall, at Halls Mills. They were accompanied by Mr. and Mrs Fred Wood, also of Detroit. Mrs. Wood is the former Miss Louise Butts. Mrs. J. D. Moore, Sr., has re turned to her home here after spending several weeks at Lake land, Fla. On her way home she was met at Monticello, Fla., by her daughter, Mrs. Catherine Moore Carrington, and Mrs. Pal mer Horton, who with her, visit ed at points in several southern states for ten days. Among the places visited were Mobile, Ala., Biloxi, Natchez, and Vicksburg. Miss., New Orleans, La., and At lanta, Ga. Mrs. C. C.
