will return to their home at

In State Contest
Whiteville, June 7.—Mary Joe
Cole, daughter of Editor and
Mrs. Willard G. Cole of White
ville, was announced this week as
the winner of both local and
State scholarships in the Civitan
Citizenship Essay Contest.
By virtue of the State honor,
ithe essay of the 17-year-old
Whiteville High School senior
was automatically entered in
competition for the Civitan In
ternational Scholarship worth
$500.

who is a resident of Whiteville,
presented Miss Cole the $125
scholarship given by the White
ville Civitan Club and the $100
scholarship awarded as tho
prize in the State-wide competi
tion.
