Mrs. C. C. Miller and daughter, Mrs. Mary Tori, Jr., of Sparks, Nevada, are visiting Mrs. Miller's sister, Miss Elsie Foster, and other relatives in Wilkes. Mr. and Mrs. Moody Gaither, Mr. and Mrs. Charles E. Fetter and son, Mr. Eugene Fetter, all of Winston-Salem, were guests here Sunday in the home of Mr. and Mrs. F. B. Hethcock. Mrs. Fetter is a sister of Mr. Heth cock. Mr. Jimmy Hethcock, the I Hethcock's son and who had been ! visiting with the Fetters for a week, returned to North Wilkes boro with the visitors. \ Mr. E. P. Hettiger, Sr., and daughter, Mrs. . Prank Stegeman, with her daughters, Justine and Mary, of Port Thomap, Ky., are visiting Messrs. E. tf. Hettiger, Jr., and Harry Hettiger. i JMiss Mary Elmore Flnley, who taught in the Wiilston-Salem City Schools the past, year, has returned here to the home of her parents, Mr. and M£s. Gordon Finley, for the summer. Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Palmer re turned Wednesday to • Columbtts. Ohio, after, spending a few days here as guests of Mr, and Mrs. J. W. Leyshon. They: with the Leyshons, enjoyed a week-end trip to Asheville, Mf. Mitchell and other points of interest in western North Carolina. Mr. George M. Campbell iraa badly injured Monday in a fall from the roof of his home in this city. Mr, Campbell suffered a pelvis bone fracture and severe bruises. He is a patient in the Wilkes hospital. Mr. Willard G. Cole, a former editor of The Journal-Patriot and now editor of the Whiteville, N. C. Reporter, has been visiting his mother, Mrs. Maria Cole, at Millers Creek and other relatives and friends in this community. Mr. and Mrs. E. O. Nichols, formerly of Wilkes, will be hon ored by a wedding anniversary dinner at their home near San ford Sunday, June 26. A picnic dinner will be spread for the occasion. All their relatives and friends in Wilkes are invited. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph White and son, Dr. T. L. White, of this city, were visitors in the home of Mr. and Mrs. A. S. John son in Lexington for several days last week. Mrs. Johnson is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. White and a sister to Dr. White. Mr. and Mrs. Watson Brame and children, Linda and Cy, re turned Saturday from a vacation trip to Florida and other points. At Orlando, Florida, there visited Mr. Brame's sister, Dr. Dorothy Brame. They also visited at Day tona Beach and Jacksonville, Florida, and at Myrtle Beach, S. C. Mrs. M. M. Brame, Sr., of Henderson, is spending sometime here in the home of her son, M. M. Brame, Jr. Mrs. Brame was accompanied here by her daugh ter and granddaughter, Mrs. Warner Moore and Katherine Moore, also of Henderson, who visited for several days in the Brame home. Capt. ana Mrs. Ernest M. Eller and sons, Peter and John, arrived yesterday for a few days visit in the home of Capt. Eller's parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. E. El ler. Capt. Eller is one of two North Carolinians who graduated from the National War College this week. His present assign ment is in Washington, D. C. His home is in Annapolis, Md. Miss Nellie Gabriel left today for Ldncolnton to visit with her cousin, Miss Betty Gabriel, for a few days. The Misses Gabriels will be joined during the week end for a trip to Myrtle Beach by Miss Ellen Philbeck, of Shel by, and Miss Gail Clay, of Boone. All four girls were schoolmates at the Appalachian State Teach ers College at Boone, the latter two now attending summer school at Chapel Hill. Mr. D. A. Holleman, well known resident of Somers town ship, was a visitor to this city yesterday. TVTT. Holleman was" se verely injured several months ago when a door to a dry kiln on the Sparks farm fell on him The accident resulted in a crush ed hip and four broken ribs, al so cuts and bruises about the body. Friends will be glad to learn that Mr. Holleman is able to be out again and is showing marked improvement from his serious injury. Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Vickery and two sons, Billy and Tommy, of Ridgewood, N. J., visited here from Sunday until Wednesday with Mr. Vickery's parents, Mr and Mrs. M. A. Vickery, and oth er relatives. They went from here to Savannah, Ga., to visit with Mrs. Vickery's .people fee fore returning to New Jersey. On Monday afternoon the two Vickery families were joined by Mr. and Mrs. Sam Vickery, Mrs. Lewis Vickery and daughter, Miss Ann Lewis Vickery, for a picnic supper at Bluff Park. Mrs. W. L. Wilson, of Hunt ington, W. Va., spent the week end here as guest of Mrs. R. W. Gwyn. Mrs. W. A. Porter, of Wilkes boro, Is spending a few weeks with her daughter, Mrs. C. R. Walker, and family, of Hays. Mr. Ben P. Estes returned to his home here Monday aftor visiting his brother, Mr, J, A. Estes, at Sperryvllle, Va. Mr. and Mrs. Thurman Kener ly and three daughters, Betty Lou McNeill, Agnes and Margie Kenerly, Mr. and Mrs. James W. McNeill and son, Jimmy McNeill, spent last week at Pawley's Is land, in South Carolina. 1 " " Mr. Jay Anderson has gone to Anderson, 8. C., where he has a position with the Rice Music Company. Mr. and Mrs. G. A. Rhodes, of Winston-Salem, spent the week end here in the home of Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Johnston. Mrs. Rhodes is a sister of Mr. Johnston. Miss Mary Nichols and Mrs. Charlie Warren, of Union Meth o d i s t church, attended the School of Missions at Pfelffer College at Misenheimer. Mrs. Nelia Whittington and daughter, Miss Pearl Whitting ton, of Reddles River, visited their daughter and sister, Mrs. Cager Myers, here Wednesday. Mr. and Mm. Q. A. McNeil and son, Al, and Mr. and Mrs. Rex Kllby and children are spending this week at Myrtle Beach, S. C. . Mr. Clyde Kllby, a merchant of the Mulberry community, Is a patient at the Wilkes hospital, where he is receiving treatment for several days. Mrs. C. C. Brooks and son, C. C. Jr., daughter, Dorothy, Mrs. W. C. Elledge and daughter, Lin da, of Wllkesboro, Route one, spent the week-end in Ra leigh, where they attended the wedding of Mr. and Mrs. Brooks' daughter, Edythe, to Douglas S. Ohamblee, June 25. Mr. M. P. Bumgarner, keeboro postmaster, Is recover ing from an operation performed Monday at Baptist hospital in Winston-Salem. Miss Margie Gabriel, .a mem ber of the Greensboro City Schools faculty the past year, has returned here to the home of her parents, Mr. and#frs. W. G. Gabriel, for the summer. Mrs. Ira D. Payne, Bettle Chloe and Sarah Jane Payne vis ited Mrs. Payne's brother, Prof. L. W. Bernhardt and family In Raleigh last week.
