Forester Hostess To Her Club The members of the Current Topic club and some additional guests were delightfully enter tained at a one o'clock luncheon Wednesday by Mrs. F. C. Forest er at her home on D Street. Mrs. ? C. Faw, Sr., and Mrs. W. M. w>eBerry, visitors of the club, assisted the hostees in the serv ing. other visitors including Mrs. J. R. Hix, Mrs. C. E. Jenkins, Sr., and Mrs. W. O. Absher. Following the luncheon rook was played at tour tables ar ranged in a festive setting in which red roses predominated. Mrs. W. R. Absher received the prise for top score, Mrs. Ralph Duncan the low score award, and she also held the traveler's prize. During the afternoon Mrs. Johnson J. Hayes presided for a short business session. Miss Wilkerson Was Wedding Attendant Miss Elizabeth Wilkerson, of this city, was maid of honor in the wedding of Miss Nell Eliza Jbeth Trexler, of Badin, and Wal ter Newman Lefler, of Albemarle and Great Falls, which took place Saturday afternoon at the Preebyterian church in Badin. Miss Wilkerson, niece of Mr. and Mrs. Joe E. Johnson, teaches at Huntersville. Miss Wilkerson's dress was a combination of lavender satin and black velvet, she wore long black gloves, other black acces sories, and carried a nosegay of mixed flowers. ^fhe bride wore a teal blue I satin dress, an off-the-face blue hat with small ostrich tips and veiling, "and carried a white prayer book topped with a white orchid, showered with tuberoses and satin streamers. ^Mrs. Gordon Finley Book Club Hostess A delightful club meeting of the week was the one given by Mrs. Gordon Finley at her home on E Street Friday afternoon en tertaining for the members of the Friday Book club and some 3*a visitors. Mesdames Archie Ivie, F. C. Forester, T. E. hran, and Annie Haines. Mrs. John T. Wayland, the president, presided for roll call made by Mrs. J. L. Clements, the mem bers responding with interesting news items. At the close of the meeting the guests were invited intd the dining room where a delicious buffett supper was %erved. Red roses were used on the dining table and elsewhere about the home decorations con sisted of autumn - foliage and chrysanthemums. Support The Scouts ??w?wmi>?mwwwwwHW Shell-Huffman Vows Are Solemnized Miss Emily Shell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Shell, of Anchorage, Alaska, became the bride of Pfc. R. C. Huffman in a ceremony which took place at the Fort Richardson Post Chap el on Sunday, October 2nd. The chaplain, Capt. Conrad C. Bald win, U. S. A. F., officiated in a setting of green and white. The bridegroom, son of Mrs. Josie Huffman, of Wllkeaboro. Route One, an Airman of U. S. A. F. is now stationed at Shaw Field, S. C. Charlotte Charles Haynes Feted At Party Miss Charlotte Charles Haynes was feted on her fourth birthday at a lovely party Tuesday, Nov. 8, 7:30 p." m., at her home on Seventh street, by her mother, Mrs. Helen Haynes. Several friends and playmates attended. A large birthday cake was served with ice cream. The guests were given attractive favors, and the honoree received many lovely gifts. Mrs. Frederick Gaddy Honored At Tea Mrs. W. F. Gaddy, Mrs. Fred erick Gaddy, and Miss Geraldine Gaddy attended a tea in Concord Wednesday afternoon given by Mrs. Paul Cox at her home hon oring Mrs. K. C. Allen, of Wades boro, and Mrs. Frederick Gaddy, the former Miss Betty Lou Fos ter, of this city. Mrs. Allen, a sister of Mrs. W. F. Gaddy and Mrs. Cox, prior to her marriage this fall was Miss Ruby Hudson. During the hours of the tea from four to five-thirty Miss Geraldine Gaddy assisted in di recting the large number of guests to the dining room where1 the decorations and table ap- j pointmenta carried a color note' of green and white. Bell-Steelman Engagement Announced Mr. Dennis F. Bell, or Kan napolis, announces the engage ment of his daughter, Dorothy Ann. to Hoke H. Steelman, of Moravian Falls and Chapel Hill, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Steel man, of Moravian Falls. The wedding will take place on De cember 24 th.
