Mr. Max Foster, whcf holds a ' position in Hickory, was here for the week-end with his family, who reside on F Street. Messrs. D. M. Triplettand L. M. BUer, residents of Hendrix post office were 'business visitors to the city today. Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Spalnhour, of this city, were gnests in the home of Dr. and Mrs. I. G. Greer at Chapel Hill the past week-end. Mr. and Mrs. B. H. White, well known residents of Mount Zion postofflce, were visitors to North Wllkesboro today. Mrs. W. L. Yates has been ill the past several weeks at her home in Wllkesboro with flu. She was reported today to be im« proving. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Miller, Mr. Lawrence H. Miller, and Mrs. Blanche W. Miller spent Sunday with the R. B. Millers in High Point Mr. Cecil Bumgarner, follow ing a week's treatment at the City Memorial Hospital in Win ston-Salem, is at home now and Is able to be out again. Attorney J. AJlie Hayes, Re publican candidate for solicitor of the 17th judicial district, has just returned from a campaign tour of Davie county. Mr. and Mrs. Bryan Gilreath and two daughters, Martha and Rebecca, spent the day Sunday In West Jefferson with Mr. and Mrs. John Rhodes. Sheriff C. G.. Poindexter, who was stricken ill Saturday and taken to the Wilkes hospital, re turned to his home Monday but will be confined to his home for several days. „ Mr. and Mrs. Tom Lenderman and two children, Ann and Sarah, and Mrf and Mrs. Sherman Price and son, Kenneth, visited Sunday afternbon in Stateeville with Mr. and Mrs. John Henry Lenderman. Dr. and Mrs. Livingston John ston, of Winston-Salem, were here for the week-end with Mrs. Johnston's mother, Mrs. Tal Bar Mr. and Mrs. Roy Grouse have recently returned from a week's Tislt at Willis ton, Florida, with Mrs. Crouse's brother and sister, Mr. Walter Call, Mrs. Gene Bailey, and ifr. Bailey. f Mr. and Mrs. ~F. M. Alderfer, of Greensboro, visited here from Friday until Sunday in the home of Mrs. G. B. Jenkins and with other relatives. Mrs. Alderfer is a sister of Mrs. Jenkins. Mrs. G. L. McCarter, of Mor gan ton, was a guest over the week-end in the home of Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Sturdivant, Sr., Mrs. McCarter formerly lived here a number of years ago. Mr. and Mrs. T. R. Bryan, Jr., of Raleigh arrived here Wednes day to spend the remainder of the week with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. R. Bryan, of Wilkesboro, and Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Steel man, of Oakweods. Mrs. Lydia Sheets has recent ly returned to her home in Wil kes boro from an extended visit in Baltimore, Md., in the homes of her two daughters, Mr. and Mrs. P. Mr. Jimmy Moore, a student at Wake Forest College and who is spending the spring holidays here with his mother, Mrs. ffithel Moore, had for bis guest over the week-end, Mr. Lee Royal, of Greensboro. Mrs. A. P. Kilby, Mrs. C. T. Doughton, and Miss Lois Scroggs went to Winston-Salem last Tues day evening to attend the con cert of the Wiiiston-Salem Sym phony Orchestra given in Rey nolds Auditorium. * Mrs. James C. Hubbard, Mrs. B. B. Banner, Mrs. Jay Jones and daughters, Mary Yeakle Phipps and Adele Jones, of Wil kes boro, spent the week-end in Mayodan visiting Mrs. Hubbard's daughter, Mrs. Virginia Loftis. Miss Blanche Ferguson, who had been visiting in Florida for several weeks, is now visiting with her brother, Mr. Clyde Fer guson, and other relatives, in Dal las, Texas, before returning to her home in Wilkesboro. We are glad to note, that con tinued improvement is noted in the condliton of Mr. R. B. Pharr, who has been copfined to his home in Wilkesboro for sometime. We hope he will soon be able to UV VIUV Mr. Robert S. Gibbs and eons, John and Hyatt, enjoyed a camp ing trip the past week-end to Roan Mountain, Tenn. They re ported the weather In that sec tion cold, with plenty of enow drifts in the mountains. Dr. James Kinlaw, who is prac ticing optometry In Greenville, Miss., was a recent visitor in the home of his uncle, Mr. Ed Crysel, in Wilkesboro. Dr. Kinlaw, who is well known here, recently passed the boards of examiners in this state and also in Mississippi. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph H. Byers and daughter and son, Joann and Charles Byers, of this city and Mr. and Mrs. tfc K. Byers, of Asheboro, returned to their home Sunday from a visit with relatives at Fargo, North Dakota, and Des Moines, Iowa. They were away more than two weeks. Mr. and Mrs. T. R. Alexander Fonvielle, Jr., and two young daughters, Margaret and Laura, returned to their home at Wilm ngton Sunday after a visit here with Mrs. Fonvielle's parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Faw. Mrs. Fonvielle and daughters had been up for ten days, and Mr. Fonvielle came up on Thursday. Mr. Walter Morphis, a student at Wake Forest College, and Mrs. Morphis are spending the spring holidays here with Mrs. Morphis'a parents, Mr. and Mrs. Rufus B. Church. Mr. and Mrs. Morphit visited Tueeday and Wednesday at Lexington with Mr. Morphis'i parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Morphis. Mrs. R. L. Seroggs, ef Mora vian Falls, is spending this week in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Cranor. She was accom panied here Sunday from Char lotte by Mr. and Mrs. William Farlier. Mrs. Seroggs, who sever al weeks ago underwent an eye operation in Charlotte, had been staying there with Mr. and Mrs. Carson Parller.
