C„ June 22, 1950 Make North Wilkesboro Your Shoooina Johnson-Pardue Wedding Solemnized At Wilmington Wilmington, June 4 — The I marriage of Miss Cynthia John son, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hooper Johnson of this city, to Don Ralph Pardue, son Of Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Pardue of Roar ing River, was solemnized at the home of the bride at 5:30 o'clock June 3. The Rot. Alexander Mil ler officiated at the ceremony. The home was decorated throughout with greenery and white spring flowers. An impro vised altar was set before the mantel and flanked on either side with palms. The mantel was de corated with five-branch can delabra in which burned small white tapers, and was centered with an arrangement of white spring flowers. Prior to the ceremony, music was played by William G. Robertson. Soloist John Mac Dougall sang "The Voice That Breathed O'er Eden" and "O Perfect Love." The traditional wedding marches were used. The bride descended the steps with her father by whom she was given in marriage. She wore bridal gown of nylon tulle styled with a low off-the-shoul der neckline bordered with a wide bertha Of bead-embroider ed Rosepoint lace. The snug bas que bodice was made with tiny covered buttons which extended to the hips in the back. The triple-layered bouffant skirt of nylon tulle extended into a chapel train. Her only ornament was a single strand of pearls, gift of the bridegroom. She^carried a white prayer book topped with a corsage of white phalaenopsls orchids and showered with white orchids and 8tain ribbons. Attending the bride as matron of-honor was Mrs. Hooper du Bois Johnson, sister-in-law Of the bride. She wore a gown of starch ed white organia embroidered with a green leaf design, and styled with a fitted bodice. The bouffant skirt of white organsa was made over a pale green taffe ta underskirt and was styled with matching green taffeta sash. She wore a matching short bolero made of flutted ruffles, and car ried an arm b6uquet of California daises tied with matching green ribbon. Hershel T. Ward of Granite Falls attended the bridegroom as best man. Hooper duBois, Johnson, brother of the bride, acted as head usher. Mrs. Hooper Johnson, mother of the bride, wore an afternoon dress of nary marquisette fash ioned with a deep V-neckline styled with a V-shaped collar tucked across the front. The dress was made with cap sleeves, a softly shirred bodice, and a belled gored skirt. She chose mauve ac cessories and a matching hair ar rangement of tulle and flowers. She wore a shoulder corsage of pale lavendar orchids. Mrs. J. P. Pardue, mother of the bridegroom, wore a black marquisette afternoon dress with beaded neckline and belled skirt. Her accessories were white. Lav- j endar orchids were pinned at her shoulder. Immediately following the cere mony a reception was held at the bride's home. The bride's table was laid with a white satin cloth an<Tcentered with &n antique silv er epergne. The wedding cake was placed at one end and flank ed by small three-branched candel abra. Punch and individual bridal cakes were served in the garden. Those serving were Misses Shirley Brown, Anna Kamer, Mary Em ma Humphrey, and Peggye John son; Mrs. Mears Harris, Jr., and Mrs. S. M. She carried matching accessories and wore a shoulder corsage of white orchids taken from her prayerbook. Mrs. Pardue is a graduate of the University Of North Carolina in the class of 1950, having re ceived an A. B. degree in Journalism. She attended New Hanover High school, and Mar Jorie Webster Junior college In Washington, D. C. She has been a member of the Spinsters for the past three years. Mr. Pardue is a graduate of the University of North Carolina in the class of 1950, having re ceived a B. S. degree In Phys ics,. He is at present enrolled in the Physics graduate school at the University. Following the wedding trip south, the couple will return to Chapel Hill where they will make their home. Out-of-town guests for the wed ding included Mr. and Mrs. T. B. Pardue of Washington, D. C.; Miss Doris Wood of "Alberquerque, New Mexico; Mrs. Ella D. Brooks of Washington, D. C., aunt of the bride; Miss Roxle Ann Walters of Raleigh; Mr. and Mrs. Hooper du Bois Johnson of Winston-Salem; Hershal T. Ward Of Granite Falls. o Chain Coif Given Howard Colvard, assistant county agent, said today that a calf in the 4-H club calf chain had been awarded to Clyde Hayes, son of Mr. and Mrs. John ▲. j Hayes, of Ronda route two. The chain was started several years ago by the North Wilkes boro Kiwanls club. A 4-H mem ber receiving a calf must give the first heifer calf to a succedlng member of the chain.
