Final Plans Announced For Highway Celebration Final details of the celebration July 9 of the official opening of the Tryon-Spartanburg road as the last link in the paved highway from 1 North Carolina mountains to the sea were arranged when committee heads met yesterday at Tryon. A motorcade starting from Charleston will meet a group from Asheville at Tryon at 1 o’clock. Two hundred cars are expected to make up the motorcade from the lower state and they will be joined here by 50 more. Barbecue in a shady grove at Harmon Field 1 tp 3 o’clock, after which short addresses by several distinguished visitors follow. Tea at 5 o’clock at Mimosa Inn for sponsors, their maids and other guests with a ball beginning at 9 o’clock at Oak Hall Inn. The Saxon W.O.W. band will furnish music. Speakers are as fol lows: J. L. Whitmire, president Hendersonville Rotary Club; Dr. W. W. Ball, editor Charleston News and Courier; Robert Lathan, editor Asheville Citizen: C O. Hearon, chairman of the S.C. Highway Com mission, and E. B. Jeffress, Greensboro, chairman N.G Highway Com mission. James F. Crook, editor of The Herald will preside. Saluda Teachers Elected The Saluda School board announces the following teachers for Saluda during the (oming year.: M. H. Randolph, principal; Carl Blackwood, William G. Egerton, Jr., and Mrs. Charlotte McCathern, high school; Mrs. Raymond Stephenson, Mrs. L R. Barber, Miss Corrie Yount, Mrs. Bryson Edwards, Mrs. G. R. Little, and Mrs. Roy T. Baisden, elementary grades. Archerg and Golt Contest At Countrg Club Thursday A contest between Dr. Palmer and Senator Bacon playing golf against W. G. Hamner and A.C. Jones shooting arrows, will be held Thursday at 2:30 p. m. at the Country club. This is said to be interesting sport. The Archery team wiU shoot arrows at a mark near the cups while the golfers will play the usual way. The Archery team represents the Boy Scouts.
