Sharp at Rotary Major Bernard Sharp will ad dress the Tryon Rotary club on Friday at 1 p. m. at Oak Hall and will choose for his subject the 'Furopeam situation. Members fringing extra guests should noti fy the secretary, R. C. Burnett, in order that sufficient plates may be reserved. Russell Phillips Landrum, April 2. —Russell Phil lips, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Phillips, Landrum, route 1 (Polk county), died at the resi dence :a/t 9 o’clock this morning. Funeral services will be held at 10 o’clock Wednesday morning at the Hickory Grove Baptist church in Polk county by the pastor, the Rev. A. T. Howard. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Surviving besides the parents are five brothers, Edward, Arnell, J/lint, Ralph and Marshall Phil ipp and two sisters, Myrtle May and Louise Phillips, all of the residence.—Spartanburg Herald. Burial Rites Burial services for Mrs. 0. S. Parmer will be held this afternoon at 5 o’clock in Saluda at the Friendship cemetery with the Rev. D. M. McGeachy officiating. Mrs. Parmer had made her summer home in Saluda for a number of years. Circus Here Today The Kay Bros. Circus is in town today for two performances. Matinee this afternoon and second show tonight beginnin* at 8 o’clock at Barber’s Field near Harmon Field playground. Golf Tournament At Tryon Country Club A woman’s golf tournament will be held on Friday at the Tryon Country club and also) on Friday, April 12. Mr. J. C. Kimberly has donated two beautiful cups as trcphies for these events. One will be given the winner on Friday and the other goes to the winner next week. All women of the com munity and visitors are invited to join. Newcomers who have not played on the local links should notify the golf professional, Larry Brooks, and arrange for a handi cap. ' • ' Miller Rites Funeral services for Mrs. Sue Miller who died a few days ago in Florida will be field Thursday af ternoon at 2 o’clotk at the Tryon Methodist church with the Rev. L. R. Akers, Jr., officiating. The pall bearers will be H. H. Thompson, Leland Butler, Homer Arledge, Jesse Rhodes, Ed. Lankford and M. C. Butler. Est. 1-31-28
