Officers Probably the largest liquor dis tillery plaint ever located in this section was destroyed in Cooper’s Gap, Polk county, early Tuesday morning by Revenue Officers John D. Norton, Roy Reece, W. P. Lance and R. S. Bolt, it was an nounced here yesterday. The plant was capable of turn ing out 75 to 100 gallons of whis key daily. The copper still had a capacity of 350 gallons and the plant had facilities for making 7,000 gallons of beer a't a time. There were 78 mash boxes, each approximately 30 by 30 by 24 inches. This large still was operated un der a shed, similar to a sawmill and power was supplied by a 16- Jiorse-power boiler. This boiler was jynamited and the mash boxes and —still were burned. No arrests were made, but officers said that they have evidence against one person.—Asheville Citizen. Buys Black House C. J. Schoff has purchased Mrs. J. F. Black’s house in the Valley. Mrs. Black will remain in the house for about a month. Mr. Schoff will improve the property for renting. A church in Ohio operates a fill ing station which all members are asked to patronize. This may give soime legislator the idea of impos ing a special church tax on gaso line. It is taxed for nearly every thing else. Tryon’s Flower Show Saturday Afternoon Tryon’s Second Annual Flower Show will be held Saturday after noon at the Parish House from 2 to 6 p. m. The first show held last year at the same place sur passed the expectations of its spon sors and was a real treat to all who attended the beautiful display of flowers and arrangements. The Garden club which is sponsoring 'the show is doing wonderful work in promoting the Cultivation of beautiful flowers in and near Tryon. Senator Reynolds To Virgin Islands United States Senator Robert R. Reynolds left Washington tonight for the Virgin Islands, an Ameri can possession, where he will in vestigate’ and 'inquire into charges filed against Gover nor Paul Pearson before the Sen ate Committee on Territories and Insular Affairs. Senator Reynolds, who was nam ed by Vice-President Garner as a member of a sub-committee, was unanimously selected by the other four members of the committee to sit as a court because of his keen knowledge of insular affairs and his success as a Federal prober, announced he would start hearings at St. Thomas beginning May 10th. Federal investigators and attor neys have been in the islands for some time assembling evidence. Senator Reynolds will stop off at Asheville en route South.
