Motor Statistics In a statistic sheet issued by the University of North Carolina, Polk county ranks 70 among the 100 counties in the ownership of autos and trucks in proportion to population. Alamance county heads the list with 10,000 autos and trucks a ratio of 4.80 cars per person. Guilford county has 29,- 000 motor vehicles, nearly three times as much but Guilford has a greater population and the ratio is 5.4 cars per person. Mecklen burg county with Charlotte comes third with 26,000 vehicles and a ratio of 5.9. Polk county has 1,100 mototr vehicles—a motor vehicle for jbvex-y 12 persons. Clay county Rvhich is in the mountains has only one car for every 36 inhabitants. Kansas City, June 6.—The full crest of the Kaw river flood swirled down upon Kansas City to night as an army of dike-defen ders swarmed along a nine-mile system standing between the ra ging waters and a populous indus trial region.
