C., WEDNESDAY, JUNE 12, 1935 June 27 Last Day to File Applications With the HOLG 3 Home owners who are involun tarily in default on their mortgages are again warned by the Home Owners’ Loan Corporation that June 27th is the last day for fil ing new applications. Under the lbw as recently passed by Congress, there was a 30 day extension granted for the receipt of new applications. The general tests of eligibility apply to all new ly filed applications as well as those pending in the offices of the Corporation. As a general rule, the applicant must have been involun tarily in default on his mortgage oin June 13, 1933, unless a default occurring is shown to have result ed from unemployment or other misfortune beyond the control of the applicant. The Corporation Avas created to protect honest home 'jwners who are in temporary diffi culty and not to offer lower inter est rates to mortgagors, or to save lenders from past mistakes of judgment in making excessive loans. The Asheville District Office will remain open until midnight, June 27th, to receive all applica tions. Sewall at Rotary Dr. Chas. G. Sewall, will be the chief speaker at the Tryon Rotary club on Friday at 1 p. m., at Lake Lanier Inn. Secretary R. C. Bur nett will h,aive charge of the pro gram. HEADLINES (Spa rtanb urg Hera Id) Butte, Mont., June 11.—Rumors that a “big break” was about to come in the hunt for William Ma han, accused of the Weyerhaeuser kidnaping, were heard at police headquarters late tonight as depart ment of justice agents suddenly intensified their search for the elu sive ex-convict. Tight-lipped federal officers were known to have followed what they believed was the warm trail of Mahan to Dillon. He was partially identified there as a man who asked M .E. Andrus, hctel keeper, for food or money last night, then fled when several guests entered the lobby. New York, June 11.—George de Monteverde, titled sportsman-avia tor, announced tonight after study ing weather charts he and his brother Alfred will take off at 6 p. m. Wednesday on an attempted non-stop flight to Rome. Chapel Hill, N. C., June 11.— Mrs. Anna Eleanor Roosevelt to night advised the graduating class of the University of North Caro lina to “think out new ways of do ing things,” as she addressed a huge audience in Kenan Memorial Stadium here. Reno, Nev., June 11—Pearl S. Buck, noteld novelist, and Rich ard J. Walsh, wealthy New York publisher, were married here today after each had figured in divorce trials. Est. 1-31-28
