Baker starred in the backfield. The Tryon team played a good game but could not gein consist ently through the Bulldog line, making only one threat in the third period and then they reached the Newberry 20-yard line. Newberry made 16 first downs to Tryon’s six; tried five passes, completing two, while Tryon tried nine passes, completing two and intercepting three. The Bulldogs have had a very successful season. Injuries and sickness spoiled their mid- I season play.—S partanburg Herald. I Believe It or Not— Did You Know: That the Lanier club is 45 years old? That the Lanier library is one of the oldest public libraries in the state? That it has never asked nor re ceived any government nor county support? That EVERY CENT of the Lanier club dues goes toward the running of the Library? That every cent from library cards and fines goes toward buy ing new books That we have over 8,000 books in our Library? That we add, by purchase or gift, about 500 new books every year? That we “weed-out” our books every year, passing many on to rural libraries? That the average town the size of Tryon, or even twice its size, has no library at all, or one to which new books are seldom added? That o'ne of the questions most frequently risked by prospective visitors to Tryon is: “Is there a good Library?” That our yearly budget for maintainance, salaries, light, fuel and phone, insurance, supplies and books, is raised by Club dues and | entertainments? No strings are tied to our Library by Govern ment or Carnegie Foundation rules and red tape? GYMKHANA SATURDAY The Gymkhana was post poned from Thursday until Saturday at 3:30 at Harmon Field.
