UNDER THE ACT OF CONGRESS, MARCH 3, 1879 Card Party For Lanier Library 3 Next Monday evening, Decem ber 2nd, will see another delight ful Lanier club Card Parties, at the Library. Each year about $600 must be raised ,or the Library mu&t close, which would be a real calam ity for both residents and visitors of Tryon. This year, the. Ways and Means committee, of which Miss Matilda Giles is chairman, has decided to put on a series of entertainments, to raise the necessary $600. A large crowd is expected on Mon day evening, for the tickets are only fifty cents and there are love ly prizes, donated by Miss Giles. A prize for the highest score will be given, every half hour. There will also be a “Door Prize”, to which everyone buying an entrance ticket, is eligible, whether present at the party or not. The refreshments are also donated, so the gross receipts go to the Library. The committee begs the hearty cooperation of this community. If you do not play contract, bring any game that you enjoy, and make up your own table. Only come, and by your presence help to make a gay and delightful evening. It is your library that the committee is working to save. $30 GIVEN AWAY TODAY Third drawings of Merchants $300 Trade Event at vacant lot opposite Town hall at 4:30 p. m. $20 first prize; $10 second prize. Drama Fortnightly December 4th, 5th The Drama Fortnightly has cus tomarily opened its season on Thanksgiving evening at the Parish House. This year it has been found necessary to postpone the opening a week making the first performance ccme on the fourth of December. Owing to the large ad vance sale of season tickets the play will be repeated on the follow ing evening, December 5th, at 8 o’clock. Reserved seats will be held for those whose names fall between A & K, inclusive on Wed nesday and for those in the re mainder of the alphabet on Thurs day night. The cast will be as follows: Lush—Dr. Charles G. Sewall. Poppy Fadre—Miss Ferdinande Poppe. Mrs. Agatha Whatcomb—Mrs. E.-Pue Williams. Ambrose Applejohn—Frank D. Moore. Anna Valeska — Mrs. Dudley Smith. Mrs. Pengard — Miss Betty Doubleday. Horace Pengard — Samuel A. Bingham. Ivan Borolsky—Baxter Haines. Palmer—Miss Barbara Kelley. Dennet—Brownlee. Tryon Hounds Hunting Dates Monday—Lynch plantation, leave kennels at 10 a. m. Wednesday — Covered bridge, leave kennels at 2 p. m. Saturday—Block house, leave kennels at 10 a. m.
