(!% ®rmm @atly ^ulktut Vol. 8 TRYON, N. C., WEDNESDAY, JAN. 29, 1936 Est. 1-31-28 ENTERED AS SECOND-CLASS MATTER AUGUST 20. 1928, AT THE POST 0FF1C» AT TRYON. N. C., UNDER THE ACT OF CONGRESS. MARCH 3. 187ft FILLERS An interesting trip to Shelby Tuesday night with Nelson Jack son, Jr., vice-president of the Pied mont Boy Scout Council. Scout executives from all over the dis trict from Hickory, Marion, Mor ganton, Gastonia and other places met at the Hotel Charles to dis cuss plans for the year’s work in Scouting. The organization is do ing wonderful work in training the young boys of this section. As one looked over the room full of busi ness men, educators, bankers, mill presidents, etc., and watched the enthusiastic interest they took in doing things to build manhood in other people’s children in order that they might become better citizens, it made you feel that the nation was safe as long as such men hold a n active interest in the future generations. Judge Bismark Capps of Gas tonia presided with all the enthu siasm of a Boy Scout, and Bud Schiele, the Executive, gave an out line of the objectives for this year. They were adopted. Editor Arval Alcock of Forest City was made chairman of publicity for the coun cil. It will be his job to say many a good word for the Scout camp at Lake Lanier and Tryon. Mr. Jackson gave a report that said all was well with Scouting here. F. P. Bacon is vice-president for Polk county, Major B. Sharp is head of the Camping committee and Dr. A. J. Jervey heads the health work. It is hard for an outsider to realize * the amount of work, time and money and sacrifices from other things that many of the civic leaders of this, section are giving - to the Boy Scout work. They en joy the work immensely but a lot more good could be done if more men joined them. Three Cornered Moon At The Parish House The second play of the season for the Drama Fortnightly will be presented tonight and Thursday under the direction of Miss Betty Doubleday and staged by R. T. Brooks. The cast fo rthis delight ful comedy by Gertrude Tonkonogy is as follows: Dougls Rimplegar — Alex Ai ded ge. Kenneth Rimplegar — Gaston Russell. Mrs. Rimplegar—Mrs. Elizabeth Williams. Jenny, the maid — Ferdinande Boppe. Ed Rimplegar—Robert Milliken. Elizabeth Rimplegar— Anne Freeman. Donald—Earl Tisdale. Dr. Alan Stevens—Robert Bur nett. Kitty—Dorothy Smith.
