TUESDAY, MARCH 24, 1936 Plans Bachelor Dinner ] For Alexander Knott Because most of his friends will be unable to go south the week of April 11 to attend his wedding in Tryon, N. C., to Miss Constance jpurtenshaw, the prospective bride groom, Alexander Knott, will be given a bachelor dinner here on the evening of Apri1 3 at- the Blackstone hotel. His brother, Harry A. Knott, Jr., who will be going south to be best man, will be host at the dinner. This is the only prenuptial par ty that has been planned for Mr. Knott in Chicago, but there will be several affairs in Tryon the week of the wedding. Of course, when he and the new Mrs. Knott return from their wedding trip through Virginia, many of the bridegroom’s friends will be en tertaining to welcome the bride to her new home. Miss Burtenshaw is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William H. Burtenshaw of Detroit and Tryon. §Mr. Knott will be going south on he Monday or the Tuesday before he wedding, and on Wednesday a whole carful of his ushers, accom panied by their wives, will leave Chicago to arrive in Tryon ip, time for the bridal dinner Mr. and Mrs. Burtenshaw are giving on Thurs day because the following day is Good Friday. Mr .and Mrs. William S. Cov / ington, who moved recently from Seattle to Omaha, are coming from rheir new home to go to Tryon with the group c.f ushers. The other ushers are William D. Reichmann, -Continued on Back Page_ Attractive Booklets Are Received Here The Tryon Chamber of Com merce has just received a number of beautifully illustrated booklets from the N. C. Department of Conservation and Development en titled “Come to North Carolina for Historical, Recreational and Scenic Interest.” In these books is an invitation from Governor Ehring haus, pictures of a beautiful moon ccmirfg. over the mountain, long hanging moss near the shores, scenes of the mountain, piedmont, sandhills and coastal sections in cluding historical houses, church es, monuments and reproduction in colors of paintings showing the state in spring, summer, autumn and winter, also a sportsman’s map in colors showing the various game and fishing grounds. There are only a few of these booklets for distribution to people interest ed. So get yours as soon as pos sible at the Chamber of Commerce in the Hester building. Red Gross Funds Increasing Daily Since the $182.15 was reported Monday for the Red Cross flood sufferers fund approximately $50 more has been donated to the local chanter to be forwarded to the national organization, making a total of over $230. Anyone desiring to contribute may do so by send ing check to J. B. Hester, treasur er, Miss Marjorie Capps at Mis sildine’s, Mrs. George A. Cathey at Blue Ridge Weavers or the Bulletin office.
