Continued on Bo.cTc Page — ■ I TOM EGERTON Tom Egerton, age about 85, an uncle of Mrs. Walter Edwards of Tryon, died this morning about 2 o’clock at Rutherfordton hospit al. Funeral arrangements have not been completed, but the services will probably be held Sunday af ternoon at Rock Springs Baptist church He was survived by two nieces, Mrs. Marion Whitesides and Mrs. W. H. Ledbetter, and one nephew, W. G. Egerton. LOCAL PEOPLE LEFT LEGACIES IN WILL Litchfield, Conn., Aug. 14— The will of Mrs. Leila Ladson Jones, of Litchfield, filed in surrogate’s court today bequeathed SIO,OOO to her niece, Mrs. Leila L. Fite of Tryon, N. C. An additional sum was left to Miss Mildred Fite, al so of Tryon. Bequests of SIO,OOO to $15,000 was made to other rela tives, and a former maid receives $15,000. NEGRO PASSES John Nance, 80, well-known and respected colored man of Tryon, died Thursday at noon and will be buried Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock at Newberry, S. C. He was the father of Lucinda Suber and of Rev. Roland Thompson's wife. BASEBALL TODAY Tryon and Sayles Bleachery are to play baseball this afternoon at 3:30 at Harmon Field.
