IS, 1936 Farmers Making Heavy Payments On Their Loans . The Federal Land Bank of Co 4&imbia announces that for every SI.OO due the government in August on loans made to farmers, the bank collected $6.57. showing that the farmers in North and South Carolina, Georgia and Flori da are eager to pay up their in debtedness ahead of time. In August the amount falling due in North Carolina was $13,798.78. The amount collected was $137,1 506.98. Some of it was past due instalments showing that, t-he farmers took advantage of the higher frrm In the four states $104,691.55 fell due in Aug. and the amc-.nt collected was $687,488.25. From May 1, 1933, to July 1. 1936, Polk county re ceived $121,890 in Federal loans. v-County Teachers Will Meet This Saturday The Polk County School Teach ers Association will meet on Sat ' urday morning at 10 a. m., at the Stearns school building. This will be the first meeting of the new term. ERSKINE SOCIETY MEETING POSTPONED The Women’s society of the Con gregational church which was to have been held on Tuesday, Sept. 22, is postponed. The date for the meeting will be announced later. A STATE GAME Carl Goerch’s State Magazine is offering $lO to the first person an swering 57 definitions by naming well known towns and cities in North Carolina.
