In recalling the date we should pause to be thankful for the example in faith, courage and persevei'ance demonstrated in the first voyage across the At lantic. The event also causes us to consider the present day Spain in its terrible civil war with its examples of misguided faith, cour age and endurance. Guided rightly to a noble goal these qualities in the Spanish people would have developed a wonderful country in stead of destroying its people, and treasures. What you think is you; and you do not live alone for the thoughts you plant into others makes them just so much a part of you and what you absorb from them makes you a part of them. That’s why it is so necessary to do unto others what we would have them do unto us, for by and by we’ll meet our own ideas travelling around in the heads of strangers. If our ideas have been good we’ll get a square deal from the strang ers. Fine Greens The new greens at the Tryon Country Club are coming along nicely. No. 1 is now being used. No. 8 is looking pretty with new Italian rye which came up in three days after the rain. Constant at tention by club officials and co operation from civic minded citi zens are turning the Tryon Coun try club grounds into one of the most beautiful spots in America.
