Army s Seventy thousand turkeys, 450 tons of them, will be set before \the khaki-clad nephews of Uncle </ Samuel on Thanksgiving Day, when both the Regular Army and the CCC boys put on their best bibs and tuckers for the holiday feasting. But the 901,000 pounds of tur key which will be roasted to a * golden brown, bulging with chest ■ nut dressing, is only a starter on * the Thanksgiving Day dinners that \ the Army will put on the tables i for the boys. ■ Here’s how the 22nd Infantry « at Fort McPherson will tease their ■appetites and test their capacities: I First with branch celery, stuffed \ olives, head lettuce, sliced toma toes, sweet mixed pickles. Cigars and cigarettes will be dis- Continued on- BucJc Pa- • Methodist Supper At The Church Tonight One of the biggest Thanksgiving suppers ever held in Tryon will be served tonight at the Tryon Methodist church. Sixty couples have already bought tickets for the occasion. Final Football Game The final football game of the season will be played on Wednes day with Spartanburg. From all indications this promises to be one of the best games of the season. Last year the local team was nosed ovrt 6 to 0 by the scrapping visi tors and repulsed every attack of Tryon-Saluda. The game promises to be a climax to a successful sea son in which only two games so far have been lost. Parker, star j guard, on the team, will possibly be out due to a charley horse. | The game will starte at 3:30. Officials: Referee, Schilletter; umpire, Pinckney; field judge, Jackson; head linesman, Egerton. Jailer Appointed Sheriff-elect W. D. Hines has an nounced the appointment of Claud Scoggins as the Polk county jailer when the new officers take over their duties on the first Monday in December. The appointment of the other deputy has not been announced.
