Blois. Dance, March 31st A dance will be held Wednesday night, March 31st, at Sunnydale for the members of the Tryon Riding & Hunt club, the Trails association, and their guestsi. Ad mission $1 per couple or single. All members please come. This dance for the benefit of the Help ing Hand. Garden Club Play At the Parish House on April 8 and 9, Fresh Fields, is being presented with an interesting cast end with Mrs. Fuldner as direc tor. This is only the second oppor tunity which Tryon has had this Reason to see a play which has neen presented professionally in some of the larger cities. One of the finest projects! of a local organization is the conserv ing of the Pearson’s Falls proper ty. This was undertaken by the Tryon Garden club several years ago. Much work has been done there to make the piece attractive and accessible. Paths have been built and trees and flowers have been marked). All this has meant not only work and planning, but money. The play, which the Garden club is sponsoring, is one of the means which they are using to raise funds which are need ed to meet current expenses, as well rs to pay off the original in debtedness. TRYON, N. C„ THURSDAY, MAR, 25, 1937 Dr. Leighton At Rotary on Friday Dr. John A. Leighton, founder and head of the department of Philosophy of Ohio State Univer sity, will be the chief speaker at the Tryon Rotary club on Friday at 1 p. m. Dr. Leighton has re cently returned from abroad and B. L. Ballenger, who has charge of the program states that the club is fortunate in having Dr. Leighton to speak at this time. Any visitors or club guests desir ing to attend the meeting should notify the hotel as soon as possible. Pine Crest Dance The dato.ce at Pine Crest Inn on Friday evening, March 26th, will begin at nine o’clock and end at 12:30. The early hour has been set because many of the young people will' go to Camden on Sat urday morning to attend the Caro lina Cup Race Meeting. Remem ber that all the young dancing set of Tryon as well as all visitors of high school and college age are invited, and this notice will be the only invitation issued. EVENTS TODAY The opening of Sunnydale Log Cabin at 6 p. m. The Wesley Brotherhood meeting at 7 p. m., at the Methodist church. Election of officers and other im portant busniess. Greta Garbo and Robert Taylor in “Camille at Tryon’s Theatre for last showing here, beginning at 7:45 p. m. Boxing exhibition at 8:30 at Young Men’s Association club.
