Gathmey, president of Converse college, Spartanburg, will address the Lanier club and visitors on Thursday afternoon at 3:30 at the Lanier library on the subject, “Uncle Remus and His Philosophy.” TRYON, N, C„ TUESDAY, MAR. 30, 1937 McF arland-Burleson Announcement has bfcen madiQ of the marriage of Miss Betty Mc- Farland, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. K. McFarland, to Mr. Ewurt Burleson of Asheville. The wed ding took place at Sylva, N. C., on Wednesday afternoon at 4 o’clock at the Methodist parsonage with the Rev. Mr. Truttle, officiat ing. The young couple left imme diately for a wedding trip to Florida and will' return to Ashe ville on April 1 to make their home where the groom is in the wholesale produce business with his father. The groom is a grad uate of Mars Hill college. The bride is an honor graduate of Tryon high school and a Junior at the Western Carolina State Teachers college at Cullowhee, where she has been a leader in college activities Garden Club Play The Garden club play, to be given at the Parish House on April Bth and Pth, will include the following cast: Mrs. Dobbyn, Mrs. Spi'ague, Mrs. Pue-Williams, Miss Doubleday, Miss Anthonyt Miss Patricia Slagle, Mr. Stevens, Mr. John Fuldner, Mr. Frank Arthur.
