Sunday „ ter noon to extinguish a roof on the home of J. Vernon Hall. Damage slight. In a Nutshell ladies, the wife of an Aus trian and the wife of an Irishman, / will be hostesses at a Dutch treat buffet supper on Tuesday night at the American Sunnydale Log Cab in, for the members of the Tryon Riding & Hunt club and the ex hibitors of the English Horse and Hound show. The supper will be in much demand, and parties of first part who expect to eat' with parties of the second part should make reservations at once by call ing Sunnydale. Meeting Tuesday i w —*— The Polk County Chanter of the American Red Cross will meet on Tuesday afternoon at 4 o’clock at the Parish House and at 4:45 the Polk County Helping Hand Society will meet at the same place. The public is invited. Libel Tonight Some people are liable to have a good time in Tryon tosight when they see the stage production of “Libel” put on at the Parish House by the Asheville School. Ad mission is $1 per nerson. There are no reserved seats and tickets can be bought at the door. Show starts at 8:30. TRYON, N.C., MONDAY APRIL 12, 1937 SAMS FUNERAL SET FOR TODAY Former Polk County Farm Agent Mars Hill, April 11.—Funeral services for John Robert Sams, 88. who died Saturday night at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J. W. Anderson, of Mai's Hill, will be conducted at 2 o’clock Monday afternoon at Mars Hill Baptist church. The Rev. W. E. Lynch and the Rev. J. R. Owen will afficiate. Burial will be in Mars Hill ceme tery. Pallbearers will be Herbert, Ned. Richard and John Anderson, and Jack and Karl Carter, grandsons of Mr. Sams. Mr. Sams, who was a former pi'esident of Mars Hill college, is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Anderson and Mrs. F. S'. Ashcroft, of Mars. Hill, Mrs. Mary Goodnev, of Marristown, Tenn., Mx-s. H. P. .Whitehurst, of New Bern, and Mrs. J. L. English, of Bayfield. Colo.; two sons, E. E. Sams, of Kinston, and C. L. Sams, of Raleigh; four brothers; four sisters; 23 grand ehildi'en; and 32 gi'eat-grandchild ren. Mr. Sams sei'ved as farm agent of Polk County for eight years and was the Madison County farm agent for four years. He was a native of Washington countv, Tenn. Classes at Mai's Hill college will be suspended during the funeral service. Asheville Citizen
