TRYON, N. C., SATURDAY, FEB. 12, 1938 Auditorium Needed The patrons of the Mill Spring public school are working to get a $30,000 school and community auditorium. The regular school building is already over-crowded and part of the present auditor ium has been turned into a manual training school where boys and girls are being taught to make furniture for their own home 3. such things as book shelves, tables, chairs, cabinets, are already un der construction. Mjill Spring be ing the cross roads of the county is in a position to serve a large numbef of young people. Such courses as manual training will do more good to help prepare these young popple for life than latin, algebra and other subjects that only a few graduates can take to advantage. The ambition of the school officials can be realized if everyone interested in worthwhile education will do his bit. At a meeting held Thursday night, a number of citizens promised to do all they could. Some will give money, some rock and trees, some will haul. Much of the labor and some material will be furnished by the WPA, but just a little help is needed from everyone to put the project over. Anyone interested may get in touch with Principal William McDonald or County Sup erintendent P. S. White. ft Kiwanis Tuesday J. E. Brownlee will have charge of the Tryon Kiwanis club pro gram on Tuesday at 1 p. m., at Hotel Tryon.
