It had the picture of two chickens on it and words “A Valentine for my fine feathered friend! We’re not a pair of love birds . . . sometimes you’re quite a pest .... but of all the friends I’ve ever had . . . I think I like you best!” if Professor Brooks At Kiwanis Prof. James Brooks of Landrum will be the guest speaker at the Tryon Kiwanis club on Tuesday at 1 p. m. at Hotel Tryon, James E. Brownlee will be in charge of the program. Cannon Dies Os Injuries From Plane Accident Saturday Aiken, S. C., Feb. 13.—J. W. Cannon, 111, co-owner of an Or lando (Fla.) airport, and scion of the North Carolina textile family, died in a hospital here tonight from injuries he suffered in a plane crash 24 hours earlier. The 21-year-old sportsman-flier’s open cockpit monoplane was forced down near Barnwell, S. C., in a field. Cannon taxied the plane to a public road and in an attempt to take off swerved to miss a tree. He lost control and the plane nose dived 100 feet to the ground.
