They brought back to my memory The time, when, as a brat. I, too, once sent a valentine Less eloquent than that. I sent it to another brat— (We were a “sassy” pair!—) But NEVER to a venerable Dame, with snowy hair! So I enjoyed it quite as much As those who sent it—more, I think; for it recalled My brat-hood days of yore. H.v.SMer. STUDENT NEWS Literary Society: The Literary society program for ebruary 17, consisted of several recitations. "'Vplenna Green gave “Touissaint J'V Quvedture”; Margaret Pace, “What a Man Can Do For His Town or City”; John Lewis Thomp son “De Massa and De Sheepful”; Eugene Jones, '“How Mr. Rabbit Lost His Fine Bushy' Tail”; and Hoke Jacobs, “Boy to the School master.” Florence Jones will play a piano solo. ft The members of the Phi Mu So rority and choral club of Queens- Chicora college gave a broadcast over WBT on Tuesday evening. Miss Alene Ward, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Ward is a member of both the sorority and the club. Town boys&girls vs Chip-LaCrosse basketeers tonight,Tryon gym. 7:30 American Legion Junior Baseball Is Wanted in Tryon With the very pretty weather we are having we find the desire to start tossing the old baseball again. It is the wish of many people in this community to start an American Legion Junior Base ball team. We all remember the fine game played by our young people from Spartanburg last sea son. Why isn’t it possible for the communities of Tryon, Columbus ,and Saluda to have a baseball team of this kind for their young men between the age 3 of 14 and 17 years old inclusive? The following young men of Try on have expressed their desire to begin practice at the earliest pos sible date: Arthur Parker, Cecil Hayes, Emerson Edney.
