Est. 1-31-28 TRIcON, N.C., TUESDAY, OCT. 31, 1939 Flower Shop Opens Here Wednesday The Tryon Flower Shop which had a successful season last year in the Marshall building, will ie open for the second season on Wednesday morning, November 1, according to announcement today by Joe K. Anderson. The flower shop last year carried a large line of potted plants and cut flowers for all occasions. Mrs. George Dewey Cooksey is associated with Mr. Anderson in the operation of the flower shop. The firm did a big business last year especially during holidays, annivei’saries, etc. Tryon Book & Paper Shop Ten Years Old November 1 The Tryon Book & Paper Shop opens for its eleventh season on Wednesday, November Ist, in the Bookshop building. As usual it will offer a carefully selected stock of books for sale and for rent, prints, papers, stationery, Christ mas wrappings and cards, and va rious items of an unusual nature. This year, Mrs. John Wilson of Hallowell, Maine, w ; ll be associated with the Shop. Mrs. Wilson is a sister of Mrs. John Washburn. The Tryon Book & Pape'' Shop was first opened on November 1, 1929, by Miss Helen St°arns. Miss Genevieve Washburn and John L. Washburn. It was operated con tinuously during the fall, winter and spr'ng seasons since that date, although there have been several changes in the ownership.
