Est. 1-31-28 Bowlers, To Meet At Country Club The Tryon Young Men’s Asso- will meet on Wednesday tomight at 7 o’clock at the Tryon Country club house to discuss plans for the bowling season. “Anyone interested in bowling is invited to attend the meeting,” said Bowler Mic Lean today. Post Office to Open All Day Saturdays Postmaster W. H. Stearns stated today that the Tryon Post Office would be open all day on the re maining three Saturdays of this year, December 16th, 23rd, 30th. C., JTUESDA, DEC. 12, 1939 Polk County Favors Cotton Quotas In the referendum on marketing quotas for next year, Polk county’s cotton farmers voted 210 for quo tas and 86 against, accord ng to a news dispatch from Raleigh, The State as a whole voted 49,542 for quotas and 5,513 against. Girl Scouts to Hold Court of Awards The Tryon Girl Stouts will hold their first Court of Awards of the fall on Wednesday afternoon at 4 o’clock at the Tryon school audi torium. A large number of girls are candidates for the tenderfoot, second class and first class ranks, and there will be a number of applicants for merit badge promo tions. The public is invited to attend. Tips on Mail Cards Postmaster W. H. Steams says that if patrons who mail a lot of Christmas cards at one time, would tie a string around them or slip a rubber band over them and hand the cards in at the window instead of putting them through the chute that it would help speed up the delivery of the cards. When the cards are put through the hole they have to be gathered up and straightened for mailing. When stacked neatly they have that ex tra work.
