William Elliott of the Pres byterian church, preaching the sermon. Mrs. Carl Mory of Neenah, Wis., is visiting Mr. and Mrs. Ernst Mahler at Chinquapin Farm in the Hunting Country. Dan H. Kincaid of Charlotte and Miiss Leone Wenner of Mil waukee, Wis., will arrive in Try on today to be guests of Miss Daisy Stephens at Mrs. Morgan’s. The Census Bureau report shows that 3,500 bales of cotton were ginned in Polk County from the 1940 crop prior to November 14th, as compared with 3,677 bales for the crop of 1939. During the World War, disease claimed the lives of 656 North Carolina boys in camps overseas, and 886 in camps in this country, making a total of 1,542. This fig ure, added to the 833 who were killed in action and who died as the result of wounds, makes a grand total of 2,375 from this state who now lie in honored graves, having given their lives in the de fense of their country.
