PROSPECTS FOR BETTER POULTRY—I94I Farmers who are prepared to buy and raise a good deal pur pose chick and grow them on the farm will likely be able to sell them for a good price next year. The cooperative price of 15c for heavy hens this week is the best for the farmers that we have had in two years. Now is the time to start your chicks. A visit to Ralph Jackson in Cooper’s Gap will convince you how cheaply you can prepare to raise a few hundred chicks. Mr. and Mrs. Jackson have 100 fine Wilcox Barred Rocks in a furnace brooder. They are burning wood for heat. With plenty of out doors and sunshine this is a fine way to raise chicks.
