Entertain Governor’s Party Governor and Mrs. J. M. Brough ton and daughter, Miss Alice Broughton, who attended the Try on Horse and Hound Show on Wednesday were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Carroll P. Rogers at an in formal party at their home, Lynncote, on Wednesday evening. Prior to that they were guests of the Tryon Riding and Hunt Club for informal refreshments at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph C. Erskine, immediately after the show. Governor Broughton had to leave early this morning for conferences and a speaking en gagement at Leicester. Mrs. Broughton and Miss Alice Brough ton remained in Tryon for the annual Hunt Club breakfast which was served at 1 o’clock at Sunny dale instead of Pine Crest Inn on account of the rain. Mr. and Mrs. Carter P. Brown were the hosts for this occasion. Mrs. Brough ton and Miss Broughton left this afternoon for Marion where they will join the Governor tonight. DOG SHOW BEST YET C. W. Ballenger, manager of the Hound Show states that it was the best show ever given. There were 118 dogs entered from the Carolinas, Virginia, Tennes see, Kentucky and Georgia. The show was judged by Joseph Darby of Pittsburgh, Pa. The winning dog was Trade Winds, Jr., whose father won the blue ribbon here two years ago. He is owned by Dr. Leonard Murphy of Morris town, Tennessee. The Rt. Rev. Herbert H. H. Fox, S. T. D., retired Bishop of Mon tana, administered the rite of con firmation at the Church of the Good Shepherd Wednesday eve ning. Bishop and Mrs. Fox while in Tryon were the guests of the Rev. and Mrs. C. P. Burnett, who also came from Montana some twenty years ago. Miss C. L. Campbell has re turned home after treatment at St. Luke’s hospital. CURB REPORTER Among the important visitors to Tryon on Horse Show day were Carl Goerch, editor of the State Magazine, Raleigh, and Bob Thompson, publicity director of the Asheville Chamber of Com merce. They are eyes and ears and mouths for the good things of North Carolina and they are in position to tell the world about them During the Horse and Hound Show Governor and Mrs. Broughton, Speaker and Mrs. O. M. Mull, Mayor and Mrs. Holmes Bryson of Asheville and other citizens of state were guests of the Riding & Hunt Club at a barbecue luncheon near the Gov ernor’s box at the show ring .... On Wednesday morning Harmon Field looked like a big two ring circus with half the crowd around the Horse Show and the other half around the Hound Show, and a lot of people in between trying to take in both shows. .... A let of local people got their first glance at Automobile Tag No. 1 when Governor Broughton’s car drove on the field .... Local citizens who didn’t go to the show rorx<rt that the radio reception of the event was very good. Gov. Broughton was introduced over the radio bv the Hon.
