Jj), July 17th, 1941. ear Mr. V'anderhoef: This house has been a receiv ing Depot for gifts from America to Great Britain since February 1940. We have in that time re ceived a very large number of consignments from the British War Relief Society. As you probably know, the in voices we receive do not show the names of any individual Branches, so that we only know that the shipments come from British War Relief. I feel, how ever, that all Branches through out the country have contributed to the splendid gifts of clothing which come to this house, and I would like to send to you and to all your helpers and to those working under the auspices of j%»ur Branch in your Sub-Commit- the very cordial thanks of my Committee. It may interest you to know that all of us who work here are American bom women and it is such a pleasure to us to carry on vour work over here and so to be connected in this way with you in the magnificent help which you are sending to the people of Great- Britam. I think you would feel greatly touched and rewarded if you could hear, as I have, some poor woman say ‘This has come all the way from America. How kind and good they are over there to think Continued on Back Page ... $1.50 Year in the Caroliuas TRYON, N C., TUESDAY, SEPT. 16, 1941 Rhodes - Dalton Announcement has been made of the marriage of Miss Genelle Rhodes to Mr. Roy Dalton on September the fifteenth. Wofford - Moss Mr. and Mrs. E. Wofford of Landrum announce the marriage of their daughter, Margaret Eliza beth, to Mr. James Ledford Moss on Saturday, Sept. 13th, at Spar tanburg. Mr. and Mrs. Moss will reside in Tryon where the bridegroom has a position with J. L. Mc- Knight. Rotary Meets Friday The regular meeting of the Rotary club will be held Friday at 1 p. m., at Sunnydale on ac count of the joint meeting with the Chamber cf Commerce being postponed. SOFTBALL NEWS Adams-Millis No. 1 eliminated the Kilowatters 9 to 2 on Monday afternoon in the softball semi finals and will begin the finals this afternoon at 6 o’clock with the Scumerco team. The cham pionship will go to the winners of three games out of five. WEATHER: Saturday, high 75; lew 72. Sunday, high 81; low 42; Monday, high 81; low 63. Mr. and Mrs. Chas. H.
