Travel Tour Entertained
At Tryon Country Club
Approximately 200 members of
the Association of Steamship and
fc)Tourist Agents who are holding
"their convention in Asheville,
made a tour to Chimney Rock,
Lake Lure and Tryon on Tuesday.
They were entertained Tuesday
afternoon at the Tryon Country
Club with punch and Coca-Cola.
As it was impossible to take them
on a touy of Tryon in the one
hour they had to spare for their
visit here the local entertainment
committee attempted to pass on
to the visitors the spirit of
friendliness and informality that
exists in the community for all
guests who want to come to Tryon
for rest and recreation. The
Carolina String Band furnished
string music and nearly all the
visiters and homefolk joined in a
few minutes of square dancing
just to “loosen” up the crowd. All
seemed to enjoy the occasion.
Many of the guests from the
JpMorth knew of Detroit, Chicago,
New York, Pittsburgh and New
England people who had come to
Tryon, the winter resort, to make
their home.
The tour to Trycn headed by
President L. B. Kinports and Mrs.
Kinports of New York included
from Chicago: R. S. Caird, John
C. Pollock, Mr. and Mrs. J. Stuart
Rotchford, Mr. and Mrs. John F.

“Wild Skid Soup” is what Char

Steamship & Tourists Agents con

cial hour at the Tryon Country
Club on Tuesday afternoon. The
guests seemed to be having the
time of their lives as they took
turns at square dancing to the
fiddlers’ music. Some relaxed on
the club seats, engaged in conver
sation with Tryon hosts and hos

them, and others took in walks
ever the beautiful green golf links.
President J. T. Arledge of the
Tryon chamber of commerce, Gen

and a host of Tryon committee
men did a “swell” job of enter

had been to Tryon before and
knew whta to expect. Davis H.
Beck, general eastern passenger
agent of the Southern Railway
