Est. 1-31-28 Miss Schilletter Elected To Freshman Council Greensboro, N. C., Nov. 24. official group of officers, the i’reshman council, has been elect ed by members of the class of 1945 at Woman’s college of the University of North Carolina this year. Representing freshman residence halls, council member for Cotten Hall is Miss Hope Schilletter of Tryon. Members of the class will elect major officers at a meeting Tues day evening, Nov. 25. Dr. W. C. Jackson, dean of administration at the college, will be cn hand for the meeting and will speak to the group. Miss Martha Barnes Kirk land, Wilson, vice-president of the junior class and chairman of the freshman organization for first Y.emester, will be in charge of the session. Kiwanis Meeting Tonight Tryon Kiwanis club will be host tonight to an Inter-Club meeting participated in by Hendersonville, Forest City and representatives from other clubs. The meeting will be held at 7 o’clock at Oak Hall hotel. The prgram will be in charge of C. W, Nessmith. The weather for Tryon on Mon day: High 57; low 41. TRYON, N C., TUESDAY, NOV. 25, 1941 CURB REPoiraß The nice painting and decorat ing job on the interior of the Tryon Theatre was done by Dick ey and Foster who advertised re cently in the Bulletin .... At the Union Thanksgiving service held last Thursday at the Tryon First Baptist church the freewill offering amounted to $43.88. Rev. B. G. Henry says it has been de posited at the bank to the credit of the Helping Hand society .... A note from Mrs. J. H. Stack house of Bennettsville, S. C. She is soliciting orders for blotters which give valuable information about the army and navy Congressman Bob Doughton wrote F. W. Crandall recently that he hcpes to prevent the imposition of unwise or unfair tax burdens on the people and that Congress should cut out, as far as possible, all non-defense Federal expendi tures and then impose taxes strict ly on the basis of the ability to pay .....
